DALLAS - At 2:00 in the afternoon on May 13, Dallas reported its thirteenth murder of the month.
UPDATE: 14 Murders in 14 days
A sudden five-percent spike in killings comes after years of declines.
Detectives can't explain it, though some have suggested that the economy might be to blame.
However, one thing is clear: the homicide unit is scrambling to keep up with the unsolved cases.
Earlier this week, a security guard was killed when he walked in on a robbery at a Wing Stop on Buckner Boulevard. Investigators are seeking the killer.
And at 2 p.m. today, a man was killed in the 10,000 block of Cricket in southeast Dallas. The shooter remains on the run.
Does the body count include the LA Lakers?
Amazing....
Just another reason I moved from there. Went back to the old neighborhood a few years ago and was shocked. Made sure the doors were locked and got outta there fast.
I grew up in Lake Highlands, and my mom, sister-in-law, and neice and nephew still live there.
Some areas have really changed, and not for the better.
Did the New Orleans Katrina evacuees ever go back or is this the result in Dallas?
Well, nothing stays the same. Unfortunately in the U.S., today most changes are not for the good. Times are tough and many are very tightly wound, resulting in people killing other people. Lots of walking time bombs out there.
Here is a recent example:

2 Shot Dead in Tow Truck Scuffle
DALLAS - Two people died early Friday morning after an angry visitor confronted a tow truck operator at a Love Field-area apartment complex.
The shooting deaths happened around 5:20 a.m. at the Casa Place Apartments at 3315 Chapel Creek Drive.
Police say earlier in the evening, a tow truck from Longhorn Wrecker had removed a vehicle without a parking sticker from the apartment parking lot. The towing company has a contract with the complex.
When the tow truck returned later for another visit to look for parking scofflaws, the two men were confronted by the angry vehicle owner, who was there visiting family.
Police say the furious visitor drew a gun and fired on the 28-year-old tow truck operator in the passenger seat. The tow truck driver then used his weapon to shoot the visitor.
Both gunshot victims died at the scene, police say.
Family members say the visitor was a 36-year-old man who worked for a moving company.
Neither man has been identified yet by the medical examiner. Police are questioning the tow truck driver.

Did you live in Dallas? Do you still live in Texas?
Stop lying. You're not amazed.
We still have many N.O. “refugees” in the Dallas area. They are using the Lone Star Card (food stamps) quite well. That and the illegals don’t make for a nice place to live.
Not only no but heck no. Have you not seen the red/blue map? Guess what color Dallas is. Despite that, is there any other place to live but Texas?
Amazing....
Stop lying. You're not amazed.
Now I'm accused of lying? Man, you are a piece of work.
Actually I am amazed due to the fact that the first post attempted to turn this into an LA or CA thing. It usually take about 8-10 for that to occurred. lol...
Hey....You were the *same* individual who said it was not a conservative thing, and basically against forum rules to post news about Texas, which you didn't approve of and would rather not see.
((wow))
See if you can get the moderator to censor this news story!!
Dallas is a pit, just like most major cities.
I am noticing more economic distress around here lately.
It's everywhere...
Ive seen 3 panhandlers in this town in the past week.
This is the first time I have seen this sort of thing in the 19 years I have been here.
For the past year, I keep getting 40-60 year old men coming around wanting to do yard work.
If it's not about California, it belongs in "chat" under "local news". Didn't you know that?
“”Ive seen 3 panhandlers in this town in the past week.

Interesting you should say that.
This occurred just a few days ago.

Homeless Man Shot 3 in Oak Cliff
DALLAS - Three convenience store workers were shot Wednesday afternoon. Police believe they were victims of homeless man who was angry about money.
According to Sgt. Warren Mitchell, the shooting happened at the King Market in the 2800 block of Ledbetter Drive in Dallas.
A homeless man who goes by the name of Tony apparently does odd jobs at the store. He was angry because he thought the store owed him money, so he came in with a handgun and shot everybody, police said.
Police said two people were taken to the hospital where they later died.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Sad.
Houston got most of the Katrina refugees. Dallas’ problem is the Mexican gang influx. Mexican middle and upper class folks move here for a strong economy and large Hispanic population; several Mexican immigrant restaurant owners have been kidnapped and killed in several years, though nowhere near as bad as Arizona. One woman was one the news talking about how she came here to get away from Mexican drug gang violence after they kidnapped her husband; she was murdered within a week.
Parkland Hospital in downtown Dallas has more babies registered to illegal alien mothers than almost anywhere else in the state, despite being hundreds of miles from the border. While it may be SOP for Hispanics to say they are not citizens to avoid getting billed, the hospital still has 50%+ of all babies classified that way.
