Thousands of union workers descended on East Stroudsburg on Saturday for a rally attended by "Lethal Weapon" actor Danny Glover to support Pocono Medical Center's service workers. Union members from across Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and even as far away as Colorado attended the event organized by Service Employees International Union, organizers said. In PA, Republicans currently hold both houses and the governorship. They should use this opportunity to pass Right to Work legislation. After they finish passing Voter ID (which just passed out of committee and is heading to the state assembly for a vote.

Beside having an avowed Marxist like Glover to show up and turn people off, this is the reason that the wheels are coming off the SEIU bus of BS. This package that the union was offered is more than fair. There is no reason to walk away from it and most people seeing this offer will not have sympathy for these bums.

Members of Obama’s Civilian Agitation Force certainly have a lot of time and money at their disposal. Are they full time at SEIU’s command and disposal, or do they have “real” jobs from which they can take leave as needed? Curious.

Having the details of our school teachers’ compensation publicized here in NJ (no small thanks to Governor Christie) cost the teachers what little public support they had; nobody believes the jokes anymore about “underpaid teachers”. They have become NJ’s upper middle class, while private sector employees flee the state due to their cost.

The big money that SEIU- and other big unions- come from public sector members, who are legion nowadays.
It doesn’t take much money to arbitrate disciplinary case as public employees are covered under civil service codes that already give them due process and the legislative passed budget tells the politicians how many staff at what rate of pay they can offer.
What else is there to do in public employee unions?
This leaves a decent profit for the union to “invest” in other activities like those at Pocono.
And that’s why the Wisconsin fight over union dues deductions is so personal ( I think if it was just reducing public employees pays, pensions or benefits, there wouldn’t be such a fuss).
Gee Danny, your career must be going swimmingly if you have time to show up at SEIU rallies in po-dunk towns. Did they at least pay for your airfare and accomodations?

A relative of mine is a SEIU member. She insists that all of her dues go into sound investments that will go into her retirement plan. When asked what the investments are, she has no idea - she trusts the union totally. Then she complains that the pension plan isn’t very good. Fool.

Your relative is totally misinformed.
If she is in the union pension fund, that’s a separate poll of cash than the union dues and operations.
Most of the government employee types in the SEIU belong to government retirement funds and not the union pension fund.

In order to know the answer to that question, you have to know what the union promised the workers they could get when they got them to sign the cards and vote for the union in the representation election.
Returning home from work and traveling west on Rt 80 Friday, I passed a big purple SEIU mobile command unit with NY plates.
I flipped them the bird...:)
