The astoundingthing about Newt is the more you learn about him, the more contemptible he becomes. Somehow or other the Clintons really got to him. The only good thing about this mess is he's shown how hopelessly corrupt he is early on so we can flush him down the nearest toilet, hopefully never to be seen again.

Gingrich is in business for himself, and the fact is, he is deluding himself if he really believes that he can be the GOP nominee. He has no real base of support among party members, and isn't personally popular with GOPers, either.
He took this opportunity to make himself look moderate for the coming campaign, that's all. The thing is, the conventional wisdom with elections is run to the center AFTER you win the nomination, not before. A very foolish move from a very foolish and forgettable man, and as I have said before, a man that couldn't get elected for night watchman at Macy's if he tried.
