Good question. Every one should be against this, IMO.

As part of the agreement, Mexico will lift the current agricultural tariffs in two phases.

Who cares about agriculture tariffs? It is the deprivation of US jobs by low-wage invaders that will cost the U.S. billions. And U.S. truckers are wise not to go into Mexico...so the Mexicans are demanding an unbalanced requirement to their advantage... Typical.

“We have concerns that this proposed program could impact the safety and may create a security breach along our southern border,” the lawmakers wrote in a May 4 letter.”

LOL!! That’s rich! When did this make any difference? The BORDER IS WIDE OPEN.

“Currently, truckers on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border are permitted to travel only within a 20- to 25-mile radius of a trade port.”

The roadsides near the Otay Mesa (San Diego) port of entry are littered with plastic bottles full of urine from the troqueros.

Mexican trucks entering the U.S. would be required to abide by all U.S. safety and security regulations.

The program originally was established under the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement, but ... the U.S. suspended the pilot program. In 2009, Congress killed it.

As a result, the Mexican government slapped tariffs on $2.4 billion of U.S. goods, and those tariffs are still in place today.

First, let me say that this was a treaty approved by the United States. We can't then go pick and choose what parts of the treaty we're going to follow. If they don't like the trucking provisions then withdraw from the treaty. Trash it. We did it with the ABM treaty. Just pull the plug.

That said, the fact that the teat-sucking Mexicans slapped a $2.5 billion dollar tariff in response to our not honoring the trucking provisions of the treaty is just beyond the pale. They already suck so much money out of the US they should be PAYING US for education and healthcare of their illegal aliens.

The House should immediately retaliate against money being sent to Mexico.

Any US trucker that goes into Mexico is absolutely nuts, it’s been that way for decades.

Besides having the rig stolen now comes the distinct possibility of being murdered.

I can’t imagine any owner/operator nor any company taking their rigs into Mexico.

Amen to that. In fact it should have been done long ago.

Ping!

I reckon the truckers should get a ping ever so often...be great to see if there are any stats on accidents or smuggling-related incidents with these trucks.
