The Russian writer Lermontov told a similar story.

“If ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ were candy and nuts, what a merry Christmas we all would have.” They’re cutting people’s heads off in Mexico so they can sell marijuana in the US. There’s blood on those joints.

Thank you! I read it years ago and couldn't remember the name of the story. There was a particular part that has stuck with me through the years, but I couldn't remember the exact wording. Fortunately, it is excerpted on the link you supplied.

There has grown in the minds of certain groups in this country the idea that just because a man or corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years, the government and the courts are charged with guaranteeing such a profit in the future, even in the face of changing circumstances and contrary to public interest. This strange doctrine is supported by neither statute or common law. Neither corporations or individuals have the right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or turned back.

Thank you again.

In this case, ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’, could be candy and nuts...if it was legislated that way.

Then it would be a Merry Christmas...except for those that don’t want other people to have candy and nuts. For their own good, of course.

The US users of Mexican derived drugs including marijuana may very well indeed have blood on their hands, or in their lungs, or up their noses. People have died so some US druggies can get their fixes...

So, you think that God will be cross with those who choose to use/possess/grow a plant HE gave us will be in trouble, not the control freaks who try to deny its use to others?

Those people who have died because of the drug war aren't dead because of the plant, they're dead because folks like YOU think that the rights of the user are less than the rights of the drug warrior. The drug warriors created the entire mess of the cartels, and fail to recognize their complete and total guilt for trying to force THEIR choice on others by dint of government.

The last time prohibition was tried, we got the mafia, Al Capone, and the strengthening of organized crime. Now the mobsters are brown rather than white or Jewish, but the attitude of the drug-warrior side is exactly the same. Think Eliot Ness, but with ninja costumes and assault vehicles.

Yes, many die from internecine warfare of the cartels, but a LOT of the victims are killed by law enforcement agents in the good old U-S of A.

A perfect example of that is the former MARINE murdered in his own home by a SWAT team for the crime of living in a neighbourhood that some dealers once lived.

LINK

The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.

Trying to blame others for one's own attitudes and actions is called projection.

Yes, God will hold us ALL to account. I'm grateful I have been drenched in the blood of The Lamb.Something to keep in mind.

If ever a poster exposed herself as a n00bie in a single sentence.......

(I suppose it would be pointless to explain that you are dealing with the Aristotleian progeny of Erebus and Nyx?)

I don’t buy the notion that drug users have no blood on their hands even if the “WOD” is a useless fight according to you. People need God even as they reject him, so they try to replace that “God shaped” vacuum with chemicals. This creates a domino effect as they person gets more and more desperate in trying to meet his or her need, leading to thefts, family breakdowns, legal issues and possible death by OD. Billions of dollars are transferred into the hand of evil doers including terrorist organizations who mean harm to this country. Countless folks are murdered over turf wars or just because they were in the way!

Any illegal drug user in this country potentially has innocent blood on their hands.

Now whether or not a casual pot smoker who has his own weed plants and will always “smoke” his own falls into the same category as I’ve mentioned above is something that can be discussed; yet the science has become quite clear as to the destructive break down in the brain that smoking weed over time produces.

Oh my...go to the basin and wash your hands and try to absolve yourself of this. Pontius Pilate would be proud of you.

You make a good point...for what, I don’t know. Try to throw to the catcher. Your wild pitches aren’t doing much good.
