If anyone doubted whether there was real substance to the Hamas-Fatah unity government, Mahmoud Abbass New York Times op-ed provides the proverbial teachable moment.
Dont be distracted by Abbass fable of expulsion from Safed or his lies about the history of the conflict. The key passage is this one:
Palestines admission to the United Nations would pave the way for the internationalization of the conflict as a legal matter, not only a political one. It would also pave the way for us to pursue claims against Israel at the United Nations, human rights treaty bodies and the International Court of Justice.
Obviously, the precondition Abbas has flogged on an almost daily basis over the past two years to justify his refusal to negotiate we must have a settlement freeze is instantly rendered ancient history, and itself another lie. Now he has a bold new precondition: Palestinian statehood itself.
After statehood, he dismisses even the pretense of working toward peace. Instead, he openly promises that Palestine would assault Israel relentlessly in international legal, political, and diplomatic fora. And this is where Fatah and Hamas now join together in substance as well as appearance.

DUH!
Unexpectedly, some will be surprised at this, mostly
democrats..
I don’t really see that as a bad thing. If a Palestinian country were to declare war on Israel, Israel would literally wipe them off of the map. The so called Palestinians would be begging for peace.
I wouldn't be so sure. Unfortunately for Western Civilization, Israel IS civilized, and will be hesitant to shell heavily populated areas. At the same time, the palis have been supplied by some of the most advanced Russian anti-tank weapons by Iran and Syria (remember what happened the last time there was a "skirmish." And the palis won't have any problem with launching barrages from heavily populated areas, and attacking purely civilian targets. And the entire world, including the current regime in DC, will condemn Israel for having the audacity to try to survive.
It will be very bloody and ugly, that's for sure. I don't know if The State of Israel will survive.

Their joining voids out the Oslo-Death-to-Israel-and- the- Jews-Accords, as well as other agreements in which Israel was pressured to surrender lives, land, and holy sites.
But regardless of this legality, this week, Obama is preparing to really put the screws to Israel by intensely pressuring them to accept his “Piece Plan”, which will divide the tiny nation in half, give the Muslims all of the Jewish and Christian holy sites, and give the Muslims close missile range on every city in Israel. “Defensible Boarders”.......yeah, sure.
I pray that Netanyahu has enough guts left to tell this evil entity, Obama, where he can stick his “Piece Plan”.
IMO, (which in the grand scheme of things Middle East, counts for naught) Israel should give the Palis one last chance to reach a reasonable peace accord. Then if they refuse, eject them all out of the West Bank and Gaza and into Egypt, Jordan, Syria and etc.
Ethnic cleansing? Damn right. If the Mudslimes put on their war face, remind them at the end of that long Israeli chain they keep jerking on, are some real bad ass nukes.
