I agree. Bears simply are not prey animals. I can see shooting bears in self defense but that's about what it would take.

That is the whole point of hunting them.
These are brown bears, the most fierce
of American game animals.
it’s not Smoky the bear, Yogi etc.
Probably a fairer fight than anything
else.
I don’t hunt bears black or brown but
Grizzlys stand on their own and that
can be as much as 9 feet tall when they
rear up, with teeth and claws to match.

learned that as a kid...and yes..I ate the damned robin I mistook for a grouse...Grandfather made sure of it...lol

I see you two have never had bear burgers.

One of my fonder childhood memories. Had a neighbor who hunted bears. He’d take the lesser parts, grind them up with some pork and spices then have a neighborhood cookout.

Man, the kids came from blocks around, parents too. All you had to do was grab a couple of slices of bread on your way out the door.

LOL And deer are? Or duck or quail or squirrel, or any of the other dozens of other animals that we hunt? Come on.

BTW, bear can be serious predators. I saw the remains of one campsite at trout lake Montana after it was depredated by a grizzly.
