He was halfway there before they got married. I remember an article on Arnold in Cigar Aficionado where the writer, an LA Times staffer, says to him, “Arnold, I hear after you and Maria first met, you told Eunice Shriver you thought Maria had a nice body.” Arnie goes, “No, that’s not what I told her. I told her, ‘Mrs. Shriver, your daughter has a nice ass.’” Which is probably when he sealed the deal with her. I think Arnie and her brothers would have gotten along famously.
