Serious question - did Bush refuse access to any reporters or news groups?
I honestly don’t remember ever reading that he did.
There was a liberal who made a documentry about Bush on his quest to become POTUS.
He treated her very fair, answering her questions and even throwing her a birthday party on the bus.
He did get pissed when she reported something that was supposted to be off the record, but he forgave her in time
Bush had his faults, but he was a big enough man to face his enemies, unlike Obama who cowards and bans them.
Of course he did. I don't know of an exact parallel with today's story but ...
Secret Service Not Coddling Hecklers - WaPo - September 10, 2004
In Control - American Journalism Review - Feb/March 2005 (not on outright denial of access, but on the silent treatment)
No, this was more the style back then....
"There's Adam Clymer -- major league asshole -- from the New York Times," Bush said. "Yeah, big time," returned Cheney.

I can GARENTEE that if he had, you would have heard about it from the MSM
