SHARIA law is already being practised in western Sydney, with hundreds of religious divorces granted by imams.
The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils has asked a Federal Government inquiry into multiculturalism to permit sharia law, especially in divorce cases.
But a sheik and Muslim leaders yesterday said sharia law was already being used to end hundreds of marriages a year. Sharia law is also being used by imams in cases of business disputes and neighbourhood fights.
The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils also asked the Government to fund halal and kosher meat outlets and even Muslim schools and for state schools to have special sports uniforms for female Muslim students.

This is just the beginning. Better start deporting the cockroaches as they will outbreed the aussies and take over. They always do.
let them practice their religion but within the confines of “real human rights protections”. when they violate the civil rights of others, and it does... crush them to the fullest extent of the law...
let them find out the homeys don’t play that...and educate their women to how real men treat women...

An article in search of a story.
What this is, is people voluntarily choosing to handle matters relating to their religion through their religious bodies. A ‘divorce’ arranged through a Mosque has no legal force at all - only a court can dissolve a marriage in Australia.
If you get married in a Church, that marriage only has legal force if accompanied by a marriage certificate issued according to Australian law. What this article reports is really no different from that.
The idea that governments should fund kosher or halal food outlets has already been rejected by the Attorney General. As for schools - Australia does provide limited funding to private schools, including religious schools, and Islamic schools are treated exactly the same way as those of any other faiths. About a third of Australian children attend religiously affiliated private schools - more Catholic than any other, followed by various Protestant and Christian denominations with a handful of schools of other faiths.
We should clean up the mess in our own back yard before telling Australia how to do it.
The Center for Security Policy has just released a massive study of the encroachment of sharia in American jurisprudence. Controversies over several prominent applications of sharia in the USA have recently been featured in the news, but most Americans would expect that the total number of such cases is relatively small just a few here and there. However, this turns out not to be true: the stories that make the news are just the tip of the iceberg. Thanks to the dedicated work of David Yerushalmi and his associates, we now have a detailed listing of fifty such cases, and there are almost certainly many more. According to Shariah in American Courts:The Center for Security Policys report, Shariah Law and American State Courts: An Assessment of State Appellate Court Cases [pdf] evaluates 50 Appellate Court cases from 23 states that involve conflicts between Shariah (Islamic law) and American state law.
We should, but we won’t.
Notice how the barbaric Laws against Women are ignored by the so-called chamions of Women’s rights. Even Hillary the head feminist is silent on the brutality of Islam against women.
Anti-women AND anti-gay yet loved by liberals.
The anti-Homosexual thing really gets me. I mean women are such “unclean” creatures in Islam, that sex is only for breeding. That’s why Muslim men think only sex with an equal (other men) is appropriate.

The Horrible Atrocious Enemy (Islam) of my relatively harmless enemy (Christians) is their friend......
Liberal Group think is dangerous, vapid, and plain INSANE.
However, The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils also asked the Government to fund halal and kosher meat outlets and even Muslim schools and for state schools to have special sports uniforms for female Muslim students. is a little much. Funding food outlets? Does the state provide uniforms for Catholic girls?
There is a risk, and a strong probability, that this is the camel getting its nose under the tent.
The idea of funding halal and kosher food outlets would be unprecedented and has already been ruled out by the government.
In terms of school uniforms, the Muslim community hasn't asked for anybody to pay for uniforms for their children. What they have asked is that state schools should have a sports uniform that suitable for Muslim girls. It should be understood that in Australia, nearly all schools - including government schools - do wear uniform. Personally, I don't think it is unreasonable for Muslim parents to say that if the state is requiring their children to wear certain clothing, then there is a duty to take into account cultural and religious issues. The thing is, though, school uniform decisions are made by individual schools, normally by elected school councils made up of teachers, parents, and sometimes other interested people. They are already supposed to take into account local issues in making their decisions. A school that is serving a community with a significant Islamic population will often already have a school sports uniform that is suitable for Muslim girls, as one of the permitted options. If they don't, the Islamic community should be approaching school council over the issue, rather than the government - at least to begin with. It is not normally a matter to be dealt with by the government (if parents had already tried to go through council and believed they were being treated unfairly, then there are avenues to approach the Education Department.)
In simple terms, what is being asked for here is something that there are already ways to handle - if Muslim parents have daughters at a school where the school uniform is 'unsuitable' for their daughters, they can approach the Principal for an exemption - and if they were genuine, one would certainly be granted in any school I've ever heard of. They are granted all the time for genuine reasons. Or they can approach school council and ask for the uniform rules to be changed - if the issue, for example, is that they don't want their daughters wearing short sleeves, I can't see any school refusing to add a long sleeve option to the uniform list for all students.
Schools do make accomodations on religious issues where appropriate - for example, allowing students to wear a Crucifix or similar, despite a general ban on jewellery. There really isn't any need I can see for more to be done in this regard than is already happening.
The risk I can see is that, given what they were asking for, is already happening, that they may have hoped the government would come out publically in support of it, and then they'd try and use that support to try and push through unreasonable demands. But so far, most of this is simply what is already happening - except for the idea of government sponsored Halal and Kosher food outlets, which has already been ruled out (except to the very limited extent, that these might in some cases get the normal support offered to small businesses in particular circumstances - ie, tax breaks for opening a business that will create jobs in an area of high unemployment - again, they have as much right to that type of support as anybody else).
