It looks like the death penalty will remain an option in the Cheshire home invasion trial, as key lawmakers who supported abolition last year say they will cross over to the other side. Dr. William Hawke-Petit, the sole survivor of a highly publicized 2007 home invasion in which his wife and daughters were followed home, raped and murdered, has led a lobbying effort against abolishing the death penalty in Connecticut.
State Sen. Edith Prague, who voted in favor of abolition last year, said she will switch sides this year. She made a strong statement to watchdog website CT News Junkie. “They should bypass the trial and take that second animal [Komisarjevsky] and hang him by his penis from a tree out in the middle of Main Street,” Prague said.

actually Prague’s in her 80’s. been in the senate forever. she’s actually pretty left of left, and this represents a hueg change in he rposition. i’ve met her several times, and she’s a ball of energy. i disagree with her politically, but consider her a good person.

"Hanging, drawing, and quartering" was the traditional English punishment for high treason (as opposed to low or petit treason). William Wallace, a bunch of Catholic priests, and Guy Fawkes were hanged, drawn and quartered (although Fawkes escaped the worst of it by leaping from the ladder after the rope was placed, breaking his neck and dying instantly). The law remained on the books well into the 19th century, but was last applied to the Cato Street Conspirators - during the reign of George IV.

If someone deserves to be hung by the penis, then I say execute them, and deservedly so.

When’s the last time you heard of someone suggesting a woman’s tits be cut off? When’s the last time you heard of someone suggesting a woman’s genital area be mutilated?
Whenever you hear of a woman cutting off a man’s private parts, there’s a group of people out there who think it’s rather funny. Aw, he must have deserved it.
Well, I don’t think anyone deserves that, men or women. If a person has done something that merits this type of punishment, then they merit being executed and I’m all for that.
Spare the future victims, period! Don’t play into the feminist ant-male agenda, even if a case could be made in certain instances.
Just fry the asshole, and the quicker the better, be they male or female.
Until recently, I was a supporter of the DP. After realizing how much corruption we have in our justice system, I have come to the point where I no longer trust the government with the power to take a life.
And why should the government be able to decide that one life has more value than another? If a criminal kills a Federal employee, they qualify for the DP. Kill a cop...ditto.
So we have the possibility of a situation where Criminal "A" is speeding away from robbing the local 7-11, T-bones the mailman's little truck, and the mailman dies as a result. Meanwhile, criminal "B" has invaded your (or my) home, raped, tortured, and killed the wife.
Guess which one is almost guaranteed to face the DP in court? I don't like the idea of the government (Federal OR State) deciding that government lives are more valuable than the lives of the "little people".
You would be surprised, however, at how many people have never seen the process, let alone had to do it, miles from anywhere, with cold, 'wet', hands and stiff from motionless hours in a tree stand. (My father would whisper, "Did you come to hunt or dance?" if I shifted a little.)
It's wicked cold, during deer season, and a 12ga. slug kicks hard when you're 12. Illinois didn't permit rifles for deer hunting. I don't know if they ever changed.

I always thought drawing and quartering was done with 4 horses, pulling the limbs off. Well, you learn something new everyday.
I believe I read that it takes 11.5 lbs of pressure to rip a penis from the human body.
