You are obviously loyal to GWB, not conservatism. That’s fine. It’s your right. But your FR page says it all. REAL conservatism to you apparently means loyalty to a certain man. And don’t compare Reagan, you will embarrass yourself. Reagan led a liberal congress to the right. Bush led a conservative congress to the middle.
First of all, don't presume to tell me what to do. Second, it is you folks who have made Reagan into a plaster caricature of the real man who embarrass themselves. Even his conservative son, Michael, has said this. In some respects, Reagan was more of a centrist than contemporary self-styled "real" conservatives want to acknowledge.

"Conservatism" is an ideology. One is not loyal to an ideology. One either believes in it or not; believes in parts of it or not. In addition, the term's root is in the verb "to conserve" -- to preserve. What one is trying to preserve is the key.
Contemporary conservatism is a hodge-podge of people all trying to preserve different things. I have often asked FReepers to tell me their definition of "conservative." Their answers vary widely, precisely because different people are motivated by different things. For some, it's abortion. For others, religion. Others, foreign policy, or economics, or social mores...you name it. For me, it's the Constitution. That's what I'm loyal to. Several times in my life, starting when I joined the Navy, I've had to take an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. I take that oath seriously.
