Judge May Allow Former IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn Out On Bail
May 19, 2011 9:05 AM
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) The head of the International Monetary Fund stepped down from his post overnight amid the sex assault scandal which could land him in prison for 25 years.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn spent the week at Rikers Island under suicide watch, but his attorneys were working on a deal that could get him out as early as Thursday.
If approved by a judge, he would have to post $1 million bail, arrange for electronic monitoring and remain in Manhattan under house arrest.
We are hopeful that Judge Obus will reverse the decision of Judge Jackson and release Mr. Strauss-Kahn on bail, he is entitled to bail, he is not a flight risk and he has a very defensible case that becomes more defensible the more we investigate, defense attorney Ben Brafman told 1010 WINS.

Mr. Strauss-Kahn is a loving husband and father, and a highly regarded international diplomat, lawyer, politician, economist, and professor, with no prior criminal record, said defense attorney Shawn P. Naunton.
I want to protect this institution which I have served with honor and devotion, and especially especially I want to devote all my strength, all my time, and all my energy to proving my innocence, Strauss-Khan said in his resignation.

His accuser met with a grand jury Wednesday, who also heard testimony from her co-workers and from medical personnel who examined her at St. Lukes Hospital.
Police said her story was credible. Investigators were now analyzing DNA samples reportedly cut from the hotel room carpet.
The alleged victims attorney said there is other evidence to support her story.

Not any more.
My guess - he'll flee and never be tried for rape.
If I were writing this movie, they would let him out on bail and he would figure out some way to escape NY and get back to France, where he would be untouchable. Chanting “Nanner, nanner, nanner” or whatever they say in France. Have to wonder if the judge watches movies, too.
Or if the name, Roman Polanski, rings any bells for him.
What’s the over/under on how long it will be before he takes up residence at the Ira Einhorn suite at the Marsailles Hilton, next to Roman Polanski?
It’s a short boat ride to St. Pierre and Miquelon, two pieces of French territory off the coast of Newfoundland. My guess is he’ll slip into the hull of a fishing boat and quietly disappear.
He steps on a private plane (there are dozens of business jets with New York-Paris range) and he is gone. He does not need a passport to get back into France. He's French, they will let him in.
This guy and Roman Polanski will be seen having a coffee together at some Seine side cafe.
He'll be room temperature by August if he faces prosecutuion, or quietly living in a guarded compound in the south of France.
The time needed to make that actionable is based on finding out what he has on whom?
Yet another banker bailed-out. I guess this means the IMF has been deemed too big too fail.
If he does flee he might have gotten a harsher sentence than he thought he was running from. Raping and sodomizing a woman who is living in a home set aside for HIV/AIDS, especially if he was extremely rough while doing so, can have a special Karma all its own.
DNA comes back and this billionaire is found guilty there is one West African immigrant and her daughter who will be set for life, however long that might be.
Usual and customary lawyer's PATENT BULLSHIT. The fix is in...just wait and see. This rat-bastard big shot is going to walk. Then, what will America's "justice system" look like? SWISS CHEESE!!
This guy is gone as soon as he hits the pavement. The elite in his circle can’t have a drawn out court case over this.
The judge has gotten his orders.
He’s not been accused of a capital crime, so he is pretty much is entitled to reasonable bail and conditions of release. My only problem is that $1 million is unreasonably low. $10-20 million would be more reasonable. Electronic monitoring and home confinement, along with 24 hour security guards would be sufficient.
the victim, Nafissatou Diallo
