I was so amazed when I walked through a residential area of Chinatown in Chicago. Almost every home’s backyard was planted to the fences with well groomed vegetable gardens.
Lots of “hardy folk” are re-discovering they can enjoy some self-sufficiency and fresh produce in urban settings. As more building are “abandoned” no reason not to utiiize the spaces for rearing poultry, hogs and rabbits and other small animals, even fish. Its been done before. >PS
