Republican Blames Fox News for Hindering Support for His Position on Immigration Reform
CNS News ^ | 2011-05-20 | Edwin Mora

Posted on 05/20/2011 5:06:45 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Washington (CNSNews.com) - Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), when talking to Capitol reporters, said that Fox News makes it difficult for him to garner support for his stance on immigration reform, which includes a “pathway to citizenship” for illegal aliens already living in the country.

The senator, a member of the Judiciary Committee, said that Fox News using the word “amnesty” during the 24-hour news cycle has hindered support for his position on reforming the U.S. immigration system, which lawmakers on both sides say is broken.

“In today’s world, it’s very hard for bi-partisan agreements to be formed,” said Graham, “because those who don’t like what you’re trying to do are able to generate a lot of pushback early on, so this 24 hour news cycle makes it very, very difficult, but not impossible.

“Let’s talk about immigration. When Fox News is saying ‘amnesty’ 24 hours a day, it makes it harder for me to get people on my side,” he added. “When the left, through MSNBC, talks about the tax cuts being a sell-out and going back to Bush policies, it makes harder for our Democratic colleagues.

“My statement to my colleagues is even though people are loud, that doesn’t mean they’re the majority,” Graham continued. “So if you’re doing things that make sense, just trust the country to figure it out, but in this environment of constant media scrutiny it is very difficult. I don’t know how you would have written the Constitution in this environment.”

Look, Lindsay, you guys in the Congress created the "illegal alien" problem. We're asking you to fix it. Yeah, it's "hard". But we're not going to let you take the easy way out.

Graham must love the MSNBC and CNN crews calling the illegal aliens "undocumented immigrants" and those who advocate protecting our borders "bigots" and "racists." Essentially, the fruitcake and his leftist comrades despise the truth being told on a regular basis.

He's delusional if he thinks bipartisan agreements are acceptable anymore. The Democrat side of any deal will screw the public, and they'll never follow-up with enactment of the Republican side.

If it’s not one idiot RINO, it’s another.

I’m not necessarily a Fox fan, but Miss Lindsey, you need to shut up right now. Fox does not have to say anything. We all know you want amnesty. Don’t blame them because everyone in the country, except South Carolina it seems, knows exactly what you are and what you stand for. You hate hard working American citizens and you love benefit stealing illegal aliens.

Just leave the country Pansy and take Juan McCain and Obama with you. Until then, just shut up.

[I expect you people in South Carolina to do something about this pansy. He/she/it is getting on my last nerve.]

Notice that he did NOT say FoxNews was wrong by calling it amnesty, just that it made it difficult for him to get support for it.

It IS amnesty. It was amnesty when McCain proposed it. It was amnesty when Bush2 tried to pass it 3 times.

Amnesty by any other name, including Comprehensive Immigration or Pathway to Citizenship, is still amnesty.

Amazing, isn't it?

Lindsey Graham supports illegal slavery and indentured servitude, and still calls himself a Republican!

1. Seal the borders.
2. Prosecute the slave importers.
3. Direct ICE to prioritize the large backlog of cases of individual legal immigrants, and ignore the requests of those who illegally sold themselves into indentured servitude, slavery, and even worse-those who committed crimes, violent or not, to evade legal immigration requirements.
4. Deny all requests by all non-citizens for any and all social welfare benefits-including non-emergency healthcare, foodstamps, housing, legal aid etc, beyond very temporary and basic emergency situations, before the illegal aliens are repatriated to their country of origin, or otherwise deported

which includes a “pathway to citizenship” for illegal aliens already living in the country.

Note to all illegals. Here is your pathway to citizenship:

Go back to where you came from, get your papers together and apply to come to the United States legally. You may have to wait for some time (you can use this time to learn English), and you may not make it at all; that depends on the reasonable quota for immigrants that we establish and review annually. Other than that, make your homeland accountable for your misery that causes you to break our laws and enter our borders illegally.

For what it is worth, my wife immigrated from the Philippines in 1971. Took almost 18 months for the paperwork to be completed. She is now a very happy and completely legal citizen of our great country (her words).

One of the tactics the Left uses is to change the vocabulary.

That's why they always name bills the opposite of what they do.

For instance, a "Health Care Freedom Act" would be about eliminating freedom when it comes to health care.

And we must not call illegal immigrant amnesty illegal immigrant amnesty.

We have to change its name to the opposite, like pathway to citizenship.

Turns out it’s not just news organizations that are grappling with proper Twitter etiquette for their employees. The U.S. Secret Service has also hit a social media snag, via an all-too-candid tweet on Fox News that forced the agency to issue a rare official apology. And to compound the Secret Service’s very bad week on social media, it’s also won plenty of adverse coverage for pulling a 13-year-old boy out of school to interrogate him over a Facebook post, without his mother on hand to safeguard his interests..

The government security body issued an apology Wednesday after one of its employees seemed to blast Fox News on the agency’s official Twitter account, which was registered with the micro-blogging service on May 9.

The offending message (seen at right) was promptly deleted from the account, but not before being re-tweeted. It said: “Had to monitor Fox for a story. Can’t. Deal. With. The. Blathering.”

Oops!

Here’s what happened: “An employee with access to the Secret Service’s Twitter account, who mistakenly believed they were on their personal account, posted an unapproved and inappropriate tweet,” read the agency’s official statement of apology. “We apologize for this mistake, and the user no longer has access to our official account. Policies and practices which would have prevented this were not followed and will be reinforced for all account users.”

As Fox News noted in its own coverage of the incident, the network had earlier been covering a story about another apparent Secret Service social networking-related gaffe: Its visit to a 13-year-old Tacoma, Wash., resident at his school, where agents interrogated the boy without his mother present. His infraction? Warning on Facebook that the president should be vigilant against possible terrorist attacks in the aftermath of Osama bin Laden’s death.

Timi Robertson, the boy’s mother, told local Fox affiliate Q13 that she “just about lost it,” when a school security guard called her to inform her that her son was being interrogated. “My 13-year-old son is supposed to be safe and secure in his classroom, and he’s being interrogated without my knowledge or consent privately.”
