This guy goes on and on about the exim bank loan that Petrobras is about to secure, but not a single mention of the Deepwater Gulf leases that the Obama administration granted to Petrobras. Oh! And then assuring the Brazilians that the US would like to become a valuable customer. If I had a few billion laying around, I might take a flyer at Petrobras myself. I might have even urged Obama to make those moves in order to increase the value of those shares.

Nothing wrong with that...is there?

"GWB, 8.3 million acres in the GOM"

Bush's lease sale for Area 181 in Dec 2001 was far, far, far less than 8.3 million acres.

Whatever it was, it was irrelevant because Congress revoked those leases within 2 days.

What is relevant it that republican controlled Congress, with the help of some western states dems, passed the GOM Energy Security Act of 2006 in Dec 2006 as one of their last acts after losing both the House and the Senate in the Nov election. The House republicans and the Senate republicans fought over that legislation thru-out 2006, until they lost congress.

Also relevant and significant is that, as your URL points out, TX, LA, MS, and AL were given revenue sharing.

So now, the mid-atlantic states may consent to drilling off their coast, but only if they also are given revenue sharing.
