US military goes to war with climate sceptics
Guardian UK ^ | May 20, 2011 | by Jules Boykoff

...For years, high-level national security officials both inside the Pentagon and in thinktank land have been acknowledging climate change is for real and that we need to take action to preserve and enhance US national security interests. The Pentagon itself stated unequivocally in its February 2010 in its Quadrennial Defence Review Report, "Climate change and energy are two key issues that will play a significant role in shaping the future security environment." It noted the department of defence is actively "developing policies and plans to manage the effects of climate change on its operating environment, missions and facilities".

This isn't a tree-hugging festival. It's the US military and its partners making clear-eyed calculations based on the best available climate science.

Climate cranks – many of them the same people perpetually hectoring us about the perils of national security – are choosing to ignore the seriousness of climate change even when the national-security experts they champion are telling us to do just that. Talk about cherry-picking data.

So why are we ripping down hydro-electric dams?

Why haven't we replaced our coal plants with nukes?

Why do we still have snarl/smog-creating toll roads & bridges?

Why aren't we encouraging telecommuting through changes in tax and liability policies?

Why? The only reasonable thing to think is because AGW is BS.

“national-security experts they champion”

sophistry.

So Bummer’s hand-picked leftards at the pentagon are pushing climate change. They are NOT “national-security experts” we “champion”.

Headline overstatement. The military is just pandering to the socialist government.

Nice to see the military being used for things besides killing people and blowing things up. I’d like to see the military doing more outreaches to the Arab world. </sarcasm>

Moving the current occupants and their minions out of the White Hut and replace them with those who do more than lean to the far right and then completely overhaul our military!

Get the queers, queens, bitches and civilians out of the Pentagon and retire the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Reduce Congressional staff members drastically! Ban lobbiests forever! The majority of Congress can’t control themselves and we don’t need prodding from more carpetbaggers.

Concentrate on eliminating the socialist lesbians and their sycophants from the Supreme Court, then overhaul the complete federal courts system.

Eliminate the FED and most agencies of the Central Socialist Government.

America is an embarrassment to decent peoples everywhere!

Get the UN out of the US and the US out of the UN. This corrupt organization is an enemy of the United States along with the complete current administration.

The military is subservient to civil authority. If the President says there are unicorns and they are a threat the military will devise a billion dollar program to combat unicorns.

Seriously? The oceans may rise 6-12 inches over the next 100 years. What are we to do? Oh, I forgot, our ships float and will rise with them.

The abstract, unverifiable mean temperature may rise by a degree or two. So our troops may be fighting in 112-degree heat instead of 110 as they try to tame the cesspool that is the Middle East. Will anyone even notice? We are paying people to worry about this crap? It's like Nancy Peloser forcing the CIA to divert its resources onto the same farce. What idiots.

The military does tend to burn prodigious quantities of petrofuel. It’s a good thing for them to plan for a future supply.

Good, maybe they can expand their new-found expertise to fight the “war” on poverty, too. /sarcasm

For years, high-level national security officials both inside the Pentagon and in thinktank land have been scared to death of the enviralists and have chosen the politically correct path of playing along with their stupid theories because they care about career advancement infinitely more than they care about doing what's right.

why ar we refusing to burn our own domestically mined coal in our pollution-scrubbing plants

and shipping it to China to be burned in primitive dirty smoke belchers? (Coal exports to China up drastically since ZerO was installed in 09)

(crickets)

The White House has simply tied DOD budgets to global unrest, resulting from “climate change”.

“If you don’t agree this is a problem, we won’t give you money to fix it”

It’s the same blackmail used to fund NASA and NOAA.

If you convince the world that all harm to come is the result of manmade climate patterns, hugely increased global security forces and the power for them to bcome actionable will become a self fulfilling prophecy.

Creating a crisis to implement change is nothing new in history. The modern information age just needed an amorphous concern which could become a global, not a regional problem in order to gain traction for the handful of people who do the string pulling on this earth.

The keys to the whole plan count on two things. First is that monies be paid to those smart enough to have a command of science in order to reward their intellect by satisfying their greed. Second is to uneducate the masses in math, science, and critical thought, in favor of emotional awareness, good intentions, and emotional thought or consideration.

I say bring it on big boy President! Everybody talks tough about fighting unicorns until they get a horn up their ass. Of course, we don’t fight in San Francisco because they would like that.

It has to do with the civilian leadership of our national security agencies

In the early 90’s The Pentagon took a big lurch to the left when Pres-elect Bill Clinton made anti-military flamer Les Aspin the SecDef and created Gary Hart a job as assistant SecDef for environment crap

Newt Gingrich and the GOP old guard were complict in this crap to make “climate change” (man made) an issue of “national security” and to redirect our strategic national security resources to looking for pollution, melting ice caps and homeless polar bears -

oooops, no wonder the satellites missed obama’s cave in Tora Bora before 2001
