California Gun Registry Bill Back Again
ussportsmen.org ^ | 20 May, 2011 | ussa

Posted on 05/21/2011 7:34:36 PM PDT by marktwain

Assembly Bill 809, introduced by Assemblyman Mike Feuer (D- Los Angeles), would require the state to keep registration information for all firearm transfers.

Currently, California law requires persons who purchase or transfer a handgun to register the gun with the state. These gun owners are required to provide personal information that includes: name, address, place of birth, telephone number, and occupation. The law also requires gun owners to provide a detailed description of the handgun and the gun’s serial number.

Under AB 809, the handgun registration requirements would apply to all firearms, including rifles and shotguns commonly used by sportsmen for hunting and recreational shooting. It’s expected that a vote on AB 809 could come as soon May 27th during a hearing before the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

“Not only is this bill unnecessary, it’s a clear violation of individual privacy rights,” said Evan Heusinkveld, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance director of state services. “California firearms owners and sportsmen need to contact their state assemblyman today in opposition to AB 809.”

Similar legislation was introduced last session. The bill passed out of the Assembly before stalling in the Senate with the USSA, the California Outdoor Heritage Alliance and many other local, state and national groups opposing the effort.

"AB 809 will do little to assist law enforcement in their crime fighting efforts," stated Jason Rhine with the California Outdoor Heritage Alliance. "This misguided measure will likely result in more bureaucracy and additional fees for sportsmen and women."

Take Action! California sportsmen should call their assembly members today and ask them to oppose Assembly Bill 809. Tell them there is no justification for expanding the state’s registry to include all firearm transfers by law abiding gun owners. To find your state assembly member’s contact information, visit the USSA Legislative Action Center at www.ussportsmen.org/LAC.

Not a one of these bills will apply to the millions of illegal aliens in California, but they will certainly be emboldened to increase their ongoing crime wave as they see how citizens are disarmed by the state.

Good. The more they have, the faster the place will collapse - and the better the example of ‘what not to do’ it becomes.

If you’re a conservative and you’re still in CA, it’s time to move.

Solution: Kick CA out of the Union and let one of the territories in so we don’t have to buy new flags.

I guess I will never move to California. Some people have a large weapons collections that have taken years to acquire. Even if they offered a beach house in Malibu for free, I wouldn’t part with my collection.

There are few places that can compare to San Diego, it’s a joy to live here, perhaps a curse to be born here. My entire life is here, not an easy thing to just up and walk away from. Maybe retirement will have to be somewhere else. I don’t know. But I’m not letting the SOBs put me on the run yet.

What bothers me so much is the fact that libs, wether politicians or non, never took (or probably won't either)the time out of their preciouslives and really read the greatest document on God's given earth,,, being the CONSTITUTION. Oh well,,, we still have the ballot box and the cartridge box. HINT!! HINT!! Maybe some fne day they will and discover that the 2nd Amendment was intended to keep the gubmint at bay,,, such a shame.

Conservatives that remain in places overrun by liberals, who chose to remain and fight, have my respect. Thanks for keeping up the fight. It isn't over yet.

What do they have to do to make you realize you’re screwed? Kick in your door and take your firearms? :P

There’s no way to win and no need to stay. It’s better to fall back, consolidate, reinforce and then advance to retake the (by then) wreckage.

Oddly we might welcome that out here, then we know what to do and how to react.

The four “boxes” still applies out here....
soap, ballot, jury and ammo.

We’re on the jury box mostly right now, fighting this stuff in court, and there are occasional victorys.

I moved my household from Mira Mesa to Pocatello in Dec 2000. No regrets on the move. I’ve been back in San Diego to work since June 2009. All the work I could do from my home office evaporated when Obama was elected. I get few visits home and maintaining another
household in San Diego is damned expensive. Trying to find another
assignment that I can do from home. The current one has me
committed through Sept 30 at a minimum.

They did that in 95 with the SKS confiscations.

Nobody did anything.

As someone still in the people’s republic of Cali, it’s remarkable even to me how much traveling (back) to California from anywhere else in the United States, is like going to another country.

There is an almost palpable vibe, to California, which is not the same as America.

Once upon a time that vibe was positive and inspiring. Now it’s heavy, dull and increasingly repressive.

Had a cb radio on several months ago driving back from another state, and heard a trucker commenting “you are now leaving the United States” approaching the checkpoint (yes checkpoint) at the Colorado River. Remarkable how close to true that is becoming.

Cal gunners are massively connected now.

When are the Democrats going to start submitting bills that forbid criminals from committing crimes?

I feel for you.

My wife's family is in Thousand Oaks, CA. My clients and friends are all in SLO county. I LOVE PASO ROBLES...and would move there in a minute. However, my 4,000 sq.ft house would be $1mm (crazy) and I would have to sell my entire gun collection, which is worth more than the house.

No hicap mags? Ain't movin.
No NFA? Ain't movin.
No concealed carry? Ain't movin.
No semi-auto firearms? Ain' movin.

I would think that CA would welcome law abiding, Christian, hardworking citizens, but solely because of their insipid gun laws, Ain't movin'.

I guess I'll just rack up my SWA miles by flying into Burbank every 2 months and the week in the summer we spend in Yosimite. Heck, I guess Reno/Carson City is the closest I'll legally live to CA.
