So if a foreign Head of State is in our country, at a State Dinner, and AFTER everyone has already shown the proper respect for their anthem, it would be OK with you if they talked most of the way through our National Anthem just because they were finishing a thought?
If they meant well by it, sure. And if it didn't become a habit.
I also said "It was awkward." Obama was damned if he did. Damned if he didn't. If he didn't finish it, we'd be harumphing how Obama couldn't finish a simple toast before the band played over him. As it was, he tried to say something complimentary. I think he's a goof, but I'll give him credit for finishing his toast.
