I'm not getting myself worked up about this particular election. Republicans use to have a slim chance in New York, But like California, those days are over. But that doesn't mean it's reflective of the country. Or that Obama is going to ride to victory in 2012. It just means that New York has become even more liberal.

I live very close to the 26th district. I get around that district regularly due to my work. I know what kind of people they are.
YOU are full of crap.
That area is full of normal people, mostly rural and many of them quite conservative.
The Dems have learned that the thing to do is split the republican vote by running shill candidates posing as “tea party” candidates.
If you look at the numbers of what just happened here you will see that it only takes a small single digit percentage of voters to fall for the trick for the Dems to win.
Mark my words, this will happen all over the country and by and large it will work. Why am I so sure of this? Because the 26th District is as close to being average America as you are likely to find anywhere.
It is easy for the intellectually lazy to blame it on “stupid lazy greedy New Yorkers” rather than think about and analyze the situation.
Shoving your head in the sand (or up some other equally dark but more moist place) isn’t going to help.
