John Edwards could have been president
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 5/26/11 | Debra J. Saunders

Politico reports that the U.S. Attorney in Raleigh is getting ready to indict John Edwards on felony campaign finance charges. This might be a good time to remember that -- after all the bellyaching about John McCain picking the dangerous Sarah Palin to be a heart-beat from the presidency in 2008 -- that John Forbes Kerry did likewise with Edwards in 2004.

His hair reminds me a bit of Jimmy Johnson, the football coach. Some men, you just know they spend lots of time on their hair so not a hair is ever out of place.

I use it as a 1-second character check. See hair like that, assign "FAIL" w/o ever having to look back or spend a second in self-reproach, ever.

Jimmy Johnson and former Oklahoma University coach Barry Switzer belong in that class. Switzer guided OU to a Sugar Bowl and a national ranking of No. 2 in the 1972 season, only to see the NCAA and Big Eight land hard on his program (they forfeited 9 games and the Sugar Bowl ex post facto) for having recruited academically-ineligible players from Galveston Ball High School.

In the denouement, Switzer pleaded ignorance and laid it all off on a pair of assistant coaches (like, sure, you didn't approve their expense accounts after they got back from Galveston!), who were fired, and went on as if nothing had happened. The corrupt football coach at Ball High School continued doing what he was doing and several years later produced the talented-and-corrupt Hart Lee Dykes, who attended and corrupted Oklahoma State for a couple of years.

Rule: Never waste time on a man who spends as much for his haircuts as you paid for your shoes.

But what we wound up with is even worse.

The received lore is that back in the day, practical men in smoke-filled rooms kept guys like Obama, Slick Willie, Skerry, and Dukakis off the ticket.

Inevitably, some guy with big pull would finally put down his cigar and say, "Dammit, this is the Presidency we're talking about!"

Of course, they let through such luuusers as Woodrow Wilson (really, Mr. President? Jim Crow? In the executive departments of the U.S. Government?), Benjamin Harrison, and Warren Gamaliel Harding.

But now, with hothouse Marxists in media playing crooked kingmaker ..... gee, I dunno.

I watched Charlie Rose interview Al Hunt, Mark Halperin of TIME, and some Republican bundler-doofus talking about GOP politics the other night. They made a point of not mentioning Michele or Sarah until they got down to the final ass-coving, credibility-protecting caveats and crayfishes -- about their being able to "shake things up" and so on. But they were resolutely excluding anyone who wasn't on the RiNO Favorites and RiNO Backup Favorites lists. Weaselly little nobodies, who do they think they are?

But would that be worse than the crack smoking, bi-sexual, American-hating, muslim loving, pro-black racist, socialist, KGB mole that we have now?

I couldn't tell until the end that you weren't talking about Hillary.

freckle-faced redheads.

South Park kinda put the urban term on the map. At least, that's where I first heard it used.

Bubba WAS president, used OUR Whitehouse for his escapades and not a damn thing bad happened to Bubba because of Monica. He enjoyed the whole game. I'm sure he still smiles about it.

John is the same slime....just a different personality.

And $400 haircuts paid by a 100 year old woman??? How stupid is she??
