Senate/House debate on Patriot Act for 5 hours, vote to pass it, to be signed into law by Auto-Pen
05/26/2011 | Fox News

Posted on 05/26/2011 5:08:26 PM PDT by The Magical Mischief Tour

Catherine Herridge is reporting that this bill was debated by both Senate and House today for only 5 hours, then voted into law.

Obama is out of the country so it will be signed into law by the Auto-Pen...

It contains widening of wire taps, something called a Lone Wolf Provision and clears the way for federal LE to obtain forms and police records to determine who and how many own guns.

Hope all the Law-And-Order-At-Any-Cost Conservatives are happy tonight!

An unconstitutional piece of legislation, barely debated, then voted into law and not even signed by the president, but a machine.

Welcome to 1984 and your new police state!

...and when Rand Paul balked (God bless ‘im), f**king Harry Reid said he was siding with terrorists. The gall of that idiot.

Auto-pen? Any relation to TOTUS?

Maybe Slow Joe can go all Al Haig on Obama and sign it himself.

Auto Pen? Is that like the robo signers used by mortgage companies? Is that legal?

I thought that the President had to READ the legislation before he signs. Oooops, my bad! I guess that READING bit is for other Presidents, not the WON.

The Patriot Act. Was that not one of the first pieces of legislation to drive the far left out of its mind? Bush Hitler and all that? Unauthorized wire taps out of a police state?

So the Dem Senate votes it through and carefully arranges it so the ONE, the leftist savior is not even in town to sign it.

A few months from now Obama will be sticking his obnoxious nose in the air and saying, “I did not sign that legislation!” And the DUers will hang on every word of that liar.

A mere formality. The president of the United States is a foreign national. Obama has an undeclared war going on. Congress is nowhere to be found.

"This will be over in a matter of days, not weeks"

When did popinjay say this? March?

Actually, I head that they were going to fly out the bill to wherever Obama (who is not a muslim) currently is so he can sign it. How much extra taxpayer money is THAT going to cost?

Fox just said it was a rumor and even if they did try to fly it over it would miss the midnight EST deadline by 3 or so hours...

RE> “This will be over in a matter of days, not weeks”

Thank you for reminding me of this. It’s an excellent point. Perhaps Zero never learned how to count at Harvard Yaahd. It’s all the same to him. Besides, it’s still 2008, so he still has plenty of time to be right on target with his bogus estimates.

Actually, Auto-pen is considerably brighter than POTUS. I think Auto-pen at least gets the date right. I'm not sure how Auto-pen compares with TOTUS, though. I believe a bag of hammers is considerably brighter than all three, combined.

This is not legal. How the heck do they get away with things like this?

Because no one that is in a position of authority to stop them will.

To phrase it another way:No one that is affiliated with the Government gives a damn about the oath they took to potect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

I don’t see why we should require a president to actually sign legislation - nor read it, for that matter. If we can allow people to vote without the ability to read or write, we certainly should allow a president to serve with those same credentials...
