Palin Creates Buzz But Rivals Bet She Won't Run (Romney Adviser: Palin an 'entertainer')

"The bottom line is Sarah Palin is not going to run for president," says a Republican adviser close to front-runner Mitt Romney. "She's making money, she's moved on, she's kind of an entertainer rather than a politician. She still has some sway with the grass roots, but she is not going to run." "I don't think she's going to run," says a Republican close to Tim Pawlenty. "She has faded a lot in the last few months. I look at what she's doing now and say that she's found a way to get back in the story."

Maybe these representatives of rival campaigns are just spinning. But the fact is, some of the most serious people in the 2012 Republican race don't believe Palin will run. While the press looks at the former Alaska governor's publicity operation, political pros look at her campaign operation, or, more accurately, her lack of a campaign operation.

"Watch what she has done," says the Republican close to Romney. "Has she contacted one major donor across the country about putting together an organization? Has she talked to one member of the Republican National Committee about working for a campaign, or one governor, or one former governor about working for a campaign? The answer is no."

Campaigns are filled with routine work. For example, on Thursday, the Pawlenty team sent out a message headlined, "Governor Pawlenty Unveils Florida Finance Team." It's not newsy, but it's the kind of thing presidential campaigns have to do. Palin's not doing it. There are no Palin campaign organizations in early primary and caucus states, or anywhere else, for that matter.

Nevertheless, the political world is filled with speculation about Palin's intentions. Until recently, most Republican insiders believed she would not run.

LOL, tried to bet someone the other day, they said no, but your position is devoid of common sense, all the politicians thinking of running at fox are gone, except for Huckster and Palin, she switch her fund raising to a PAC to meet fox requirements. Not running, fox confirms the contract, no attorney would write a contract with Palin that was different in stipulations than Newt, etc.

Ahhhh......your argument makes him the perfect candidate for the mainstream media and the powers that be to push him, endorse him, throw money at him, and tell the people that he is the nominee. Always good to have a schmuck to uphold the facade of democracy.

The question about will I care who Sarah endorses.....I will listen to what she has to say, but will make my own decision. I don’t pay much attention to endorsements.

Well, it makes perfect sense to me and that's all that matters.

Yes, I am a fervent supporter of hers. But I'll make up my own mind, about who to support, should she not do so.

It's a completely different kettle of fish, when she supports a candidate for the Senate/governor/whatever, as opposed to who I'd support as a "replacement" for her, as the GOP presidential nominee.

I hope that the above clarification helped you understand my original reply. If it didn't, there's nothing I can do about it, I guess.

OTOH, I truly believe that she IS going to throw her hat into the ring. And yes, if she doesn't, I shall be unhappy about it.

I agree we will need to unite around whoever is nominated, but Romney would be about the worst possible scenario. While the conservative base may be a small segment of the vote, it is where the overwhelming amount of energy comes from. It is from the base that rallies get filled, phonebanks get staffed, etc, etc. Romney would be a massive buzzkill because the conservative base would at best be lukewarm about him and, at worst, downright hostile. No, it really can’t be Mitt.

Not to mention many of his conservative constituents in MA loath him for his national pretense to conservatism. I got some direct experience with that when I interned at a constitutional law firm. We would get calls from good people he was pushing into bad places with abrasively liberal policies. May his Romneycare be his millstone and tie him forever to who he really is.

Romney may have been a one term governor of MA. The fact he was a one term governor of that state speaks volumes ... this piss ant state of low life 'Rats (i.e., Barney Frank)couldn't handle it. Romney went on to head up the SLC (Utah) Olympics ... the venue was falling apart and they needed strong leadership ... Romney was hired to bail them out and he did a superb job. Olympic committee's to this day are using the Romney formula. Romney without question is the most qualified candidate the pubbies have for the presidential slate ... all you jerks bad mouthing Romney are clueless ... or worse yet 'rat operatives.

Romney was the fourth Republican Governor in a row in a state that normally elects republican Governors, he was a disaster, and leaving as a failure with 34% approval and his (acknowledged) desire for reelection shattered, he turned the seat over to the Democrats.

Really? Just not possible she's a better negotiator, or is better at providing teflon legal cover for her financial ops? She's been using SarahPAC for a long time now. She plays that right she's FEC untouchable, and that's the real game, not Fox. She's a tad more clever than you credit her for. Don't misunderestimate her.

I agree with you Mike as I have had regular monthly donations going to her PAC from the day she started it. Nothing has changed in the line item on my statements. Now she did have to make changes in her legal defense fund because of more sniping from the same characters she was under legal assault from. Those changes were made to isolate her legal defense fund from their insessent crap filings.
