Lech Walesa, Poland's Solidarity-era legend, ex-president and 1983 Nobel Peace Prize winner said Friday he would not accept an invitation to meet with fellow Nobel winner US President Barack Obama.
"It's difficult to tell journalists what you'd like to say to the president of a superpower. This time I won't tell him, I won't meet him, it doesn't suit me," Walesa told Poland's public broadcaster TVP.
Obama is due to arrive in Poland later Friday after the G8 summit in France.
Walesa was originally scheduled to meet Obama Saturday along with other key figures in Poland's post-1989 transition from communism to democracy.

Absolutely true. Solidarity united Americans across a broad spectrum and sadly too many American’s of Polish descent are now Democrats.
That they cannot tell communism from Americanism is a true tragedy.
A smart GOPer would be on the next flight for a meeting with Lech or inviting him here for high level talks right in Chicago. That would pay off handsomely.
This makes lots of sense. Why the heck would Walesa want to relive his distant past? It would be like stabbing himself in the eye.
We are a Republic. A Democracy is exactly what Obama and Co. want because it leads to a dictatorship quickly.
Netanyahu, Walesa......is there anyone in this country as strong and responsible as these two men? We need to find him/her NOW!

To be fair, the Nobel Peace Prize has had abysmally low standards of late: the muslim mass-murderer Yasser Arafat, the vile “human-rightser” Serbophobe Martti Ahtisaari, etc. obama much more fits THAT mold than does Walesa.
I hope that the Norwegian Nobel Committee can refocus itself, and make the Nobel Peace Prize worth what it’s supposed to be again!!!!
