One of the amazing things you learn from State Politics is that politicians don’t necessarily need a pay check.
Some States don’t pay their legislators. pretty much all States pay their legislators a lot less then congress. Apparently even in the “modern era” we can get away with recruiting politicians that work only for travel(to and from capital) compensation.
