Yes, the Vette is beautiful and a great performer. I never had a Benz so had to get one. :)

I can’t comment on Silicon Valley. I second your bet though based on what I see in Ann Arbor alone.

I won’t speak for everyone,
but I know I don’t have anything against American made cars,

I have a LOT against UNION made cars.

There are no 100% all American cars from major brands.

The vehicles with the highest percentage of “US/Canadian” parts which are assembled in the US are:

Ford Econoline 2006 95% Ohio
Ford Expedition 2007 95% Mi.
GMC Sierra 2007 90% Mi., Ind., Canada
Chevrolet Silverado 2007 90% Mi., Ind., Canada
Ford F-150 2007 90% Mi., Ky., Va.

Your car?
Acura TL 2007 70% Ohio

Same percentage as GM’s Suburban, Yukon and Tahoe

and slightly behind

Ford Focus 2007 75% Mi.

In the interests of full disclosure, we have:

2004 Honda CR-V, Japanese parts, assembled in England
1997 Subaru Legacy Outback, parts & assembly in Japan
1998 Ford E-350 Club Wagon, probably >95%, Ohio

I don’t know about you folks,
but I don’t throw out a rule of thumb that is true 99% of the time because someone tells me about a one percenter.

"1997 Subaru Legacy Outback, parts & assembly in Japan"

I suspect that if you check the door-jamb sticker, you'll find it was assembled in Indiana.

DWS is a liar. Even if General Motors and Chrysler had gone bankrupt, Ford (which didn’t need any bailout money) would still be there.

Wow, that’s news to me! I’ve never checked to door jamb. I’m in Cleveland for our granddaughter’s Christening, so I’ll check when I get home.

Thanks!
