Most early polling is name id. That is why it is surprising that the one with the biggest name id, is third.

He lost to McCain, Huckabee, Romney, and about everyone else in the field. He dropped out very early. Probably a stalking horse for McCain in much the same way Fred Thompson was. McCain became the presumptive nominee with just 33% of the vote thanks to winner take all and open primaries. If Bachmann and Palin enter, that will split the conservative vote.

Rudy set himself up to run a 1 state campaign in 2008 (FL), and he lost miserably.

"Rudy polled well then lost to Mccain"

Correction: Rudy polled well until he was thoroughly exposed for the liberal he is. McCain captured the nomination by default when the GOP leadership hand picked him after he had already gone broke and showed what a loser he was. That is why many of us are no longer Republicans. Good luck with Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, or any other RINO.

I don’t believe this poll for a minute, but what little validity it has is all about name recognition, not an actual desire to make him POTUS.
