The Edwards-West exchange is just the same ole rhetoric we’ve heard for years, and it will end up with nothing more than the status quo.

West mentions flat tax. [Sorry, but that ain’t gonna happen — not with West, not with Cain.]

Result: argue, then do nothing.

Please do not confuse the Flat Tax (West) with the Fair Tax (Cain).

The Fair Tax won't happen anytime soon.  The flat, or flatter, tax is doable once Republicans add control of the Senate and Presidency.  Eric Cantor has a plan to move taxes in that direction and I hope Republicans move to support his plan. I am certain 0zero will veto anything passed today but it's a start and can be used in the upcoming 2012 campaign.

If I remember right, Cain supports the Fair Tax.  I don't know his opinion on a flat tax.  I know Steve Forbes, the late Milton Friedman and Arthur Laffer all support a flat tax.
