They MUST destroy the Ryan Plan, because there are rumblings of a draft Ryan movement.
They know Ryan as a candidate would be formidable. Destroy his plan to keep him out of the primaries.

Ryan could be selected to VP on the ticket. Or promoted to Speaker. A might be more valuable to the team in either of those position. President may be a bridge too far.
