For the record I was no fan of Mubarak, but when you replace a turn a bigger piece of turd shows up.. There should have been a slow transition from Mubarak to free and organize elections.
Agreed. Mubarak really was the lesser of all evils in Egypt. No one should be surprised that Iran 2 is rising in the wake of his departure... except for all the stupid idealists who continue to think that democracy and political freedom are synonyms.
Well there are some people here who support the removal of Mubarak...
I must admit the Title is a little misleading, it is not JUST about Saddam, but is about the Raise of Pan Arab Nationalism and how it has its roots in National Socialism.
Mubarak was a safety valve, I was no fan of his and if there was a true democratic movement I would have supported his demise...............but this is a nightmare and obama supports this nightmare.
obama continues to be the man who promises peace and leaves nothing but destruction in his path.
Nor was I, but I live in the real world not in la la land. Sometimes we have to work with turds to get the job done. Hell we worked with Stalin in WWII
We are in deep trouble.
There is no one on the international scene shouting out and showing proof that Jews are no one’s enemy. There are no other people in such danger today, and now no one other than bibi Netanyahu is outspoken in our international defense.
Cheering for “freedom” in Egypt, yeah, right.
Gee, I wonder if any of the 20 billion dollars President Urkel just sent to Egypt will find its way into this new Party’s bank account.
There were a lot of neo-Nazis in the U.S., but it was always a fringe movement here. I cannot tell from this article how entrench it is in Egypt. The few Egyptians I have known were, under the surface, absolute anti-Semites (in the sense of “Jew-Haters”).
Not only that, they also wanted to see our troops do the removing. WTF indeed.

From PEW RESEARCH... April 25,2011
EXCERPT:
* The United States did not gain much from what happened politically in Egypt. The favorable rating for the U.S. is 20 percent, that’s very low in global terms. It was 17 percent last year.
* When we asked what effect did the U.S. have on the political changes, 39 percent say negative and only 22 percent say positive
* A solid majority of Egyptians, 54 percent to 32 percent, would like to see the longstanding treaty between Israel and Egypt annulled.
* The Muslim Brotherhood is embraced by a very large percentage of the Egyptian public. Thirty-seven percent say they have a very favorable view of them. Thirty-eight percent have somewhat favorable view of them.
* 62 percent saying that they would like to see Egyptian laws strictly follow the Quran. And we found as many 30 percent identify or support Muslim fundamentalists.
Ok, so of the world leaders, Jews / Israelis have two defenders, the leaders of Israel AND Canada.
I am so horrified we have an anti-Semite anti-American in our White House.
I am sure if we knew everything about Hussein we would all freak out except for the hard core Left.
I would not be surprised if this guy was a deep cover operative for the Muslim Brotherhood which you probably know has had extensive ties to the Nazis.
The problem of course with democracy is that the people in muslim countries tend to cheerfully elect the worst possible governments. We've seen examples in Iran, Gaza and Turkey. We're on the verge of seeing it come into play in Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan too. If all democracy does in the middle east is promote islamic extremism, then we really should not be supporting it.
Our interests are better served by having strongmen like Mubarak running things... as you said, he was a safety valve and was doing his best to keep the extremists in his own country at bay. But I will go even further than that. Mubarak's government was more than a strategic ally, he was a close personal ally of the USA. Compared to other middle eastern countries, I would say he actually did have some of our best interests at heart. Had his hand-picked successor followed him, we would have continued that relationship... but now... we get Iran 2.
Agreed, absolutely agreed.
Mubarak kept the peace with Israel. He was vastly preferable to the dictators we prop up with aid and weapons in Pakistan.
It’s quite easy to see the similarities between the Nazis and the Islamists.
They are both totalitarian.
*Both believe in the purity of their ideology.
*Sharia Law puts the state ahead of the individual, in Islamist led countries, the distribution of goods is directed by the ruling Mullahs (the definition economic fascism).
*Both condone the murder and harassment of the kaffir.
*Islam converged with Hitler under the leadership of Hajj Amin el Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. It is my opinion that he is just as culpable for the deaths of the Jews as Hitler as he encouraged the concept of genocide, whereas early on, Hitler was content to remove the Jews from German society.
That’s why it is appalling to see these Arabs and their Left wing acolytes accuse the Israelis of Nazi-like behavior.
