cut the time between the created drug and the generic.
“cut the time between the created drug and the generic.”
Then why will drug companies create new drugs?
Did you read the article? It is the GENERIC drugs that are in short supply, due to non-viable profit margins. See my post #11.
Injectable drugs have to be sterile and meet high purity standards. When they go off patent, they are even less attractive for the drug houses to devote production to.
Humm, don’t you think that it may make the problem worse?
Short Supply of existing Drugs This is not about researching new drugs.
Drug manufactures either Cant or Wont make enough.
Sometimes its a matter of the drug being derived from plants. If it requires a lot of a particular plant or the plant is hard to come by, this will raise prices or make the medicine scarce. Sometimes we don’t know how the plant creates the material needed for the drug. There are other reasons for scarcity.
That will make the problem worse. The issue is the relatively low profits on generic drugs combined with the high risk of producing any drug. How many commercials have you seen lately advising you to sue drug manufacturers?
