South Korean soldiers use Kim Jong-Il pictures for target practise

Some South Korean army training centres are using pictures of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il and his son as targets on rifle ranges, the defence ministry said.

6:45AM BST 31 May 2011

Several training centres for army reservists, including those in Gyeonggi province surrounding the capital Seoul, use the pictures as targets, a ministry spokesman said.

Each centre has the freedom to decide its own training procedures and the ministry issued no instructions about targets, he told AFP.

"Details of military practices are for each training centre to decide."

Several local media published pictures of targets depicting Kim Jong-Il, his late father and founding president Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il's youngest son and heir apparent Kim Jong-Un.

A military official quoted by Chosun Ilbo newspaper said the practice is aimed at "boosting battle spirit" following the North's bombardment of a border island last November that killed four South Koreans.

Watch the same people who torpedoed a frigate and shelled a border island without provocation scream their indignation.

I find this amusing. And, as they say, turnabout is fair play.

One of the most disturbing videos that I once owned was a North Korean propaganda film that a civilian working in a training outfit got for me when I was in Korea. It was called "Hunting Yankees."

Our young elemetary school hero is taught to shoot targets of American GI's--and has a dream sequence showing a caricature U.S. Army sergeant terrorizes little South Korean children.

Great Stuff! I guess that is what is pissing them off these days. (Albeit I think the last photo is from an anti-Kim Dynasty demonstration).

I am glad these days are back, it is just amazing that it is allowed under an essentially RINO South Korean administration. Certainly NEVER possible under the previous guy, for sure.

Make you own by their downloading portraits(check NK propaganda sites), and photoshop it. You can certainly make better looking target sheet (in colors.)

Your images remind me of a nameless ROK Marine Sargent from my Viet Nam days. I learned much from that man. What I learned from him is a big part of why I am still alive.

He was a fellow with great leadership ability. His platoon of mostly draftees was very fortunate to have him (although I am sure they didn't hold him in the esteem he deserved.)

A very scary dude.

Perhaps my nameless ROK Marine Sargent is at the root of my respect for Koreans. He even had a minute to spare for an idiot American GI.
