Too many coincidences in Weiner's tale
NY Post ^ | May 31, 2011 | PETER INGEMI

[Snip]

By now, you’ve heard about the Tweet picture sent from Weiner’s account to a young lady named Gennette Nicole Cordova.

[Snip]

... those on the left trying to paint this as a conspiracy must deal with an array of odd elements that an increasingly tech-savvy public may find suspicious:

* Not just the offending picture but most of the congressman’s pictures were removed from the site.

* Not only did the young lady’s Facebook and Twitter accounts disappear from the ’Net (she’s apparently since started a new Twitter account, and may go back on Facebook), but also her bylines on articles in her college paper.

* The congressman made it a point to tweet what time an East Coast interview would be shown in Seattle, where the young lady’s from.

[Snip]

Coincidences all, but there’s one more that millions of Twitter users will understand best:

On Twitter, famous people tend to have tens of thousands to millions of followers — but they themselves follow only a fraction of that amount.

Rep. Weiner is a man of national prominence, a rising star in the Democratic Party, frequently on TV, a past and likely future candidate for mayor.

[Snip]

Yet, as of yesterday, he was following fewer than 200 others — and, with all those famous folks to choose from, one of the few he followed was Cordova, a 21-year-old college student who lives nearly 3,000 miles away in Bellingham,Wash.

Run that though your head for a second and at the same time remember two important facts about Twitter:

1. If two people follow each other on Twitter, they can send private messages unseen by others.

2. The difference between a direct message, seen by only the recipient, and a public tweet, seen by the world, is a single character.

There was a comment at NY Post stating the Weiner is refusing an FBI investigation.

That is probably more damning than all the other points.

Yes, he could have been tweeting privately beforehand perhaps with this girl on Twitter, pressing DM to send messages ONLY to her. But he must have been so flustered trying to get the zoom angle just right to achieve the correct level of magnification he needed, that when he hit send on the photo, he forgot to make it private! So the thousands of people following the Congressman (I don’t know how many) ALL got the glorious eyeful of his undies and li’l package.

The photo showed up on his page or whatever it is on Twitter

Twitter's actually a sending device...he SENT it out.

Yes, the girl got it too. She's pretending she doesn't know him but they are on each others' lists.

Thank you, I think that explains remarks I’ve read that there is a “one-character difference” between a public and private message, how it is sent out that is.

If he was really hacked he’d be all over the place sticking to that story, instead he is downplaying it today.

If it smells like a turd, it’s probably not a Snickers bar.

My understanding is that there was a guy (patriot76, or something like that on Twitter) who noticed a while back ago that Weiner was following high school girls, an adult film star, and lots of young women on Twitter, along with the 21 year old Cordova, and he thought it was kind of strange. He also noticed that Cordova once referred to Weiner as her “boyfriend” on one Tweet, and he asked her some questions about it on Twitter.

On Friday night, Weiner was going to be on Rachel Maddow’s show, and he tweeted a remark to the effect that he was going to be on at “5:45 in Seattle time” (where Cordova lives)- thus alerting Cordova- and I think that patriot76 sensed something was up from that strange comment. Then Weiner sent a public tweet addressed to Cordova with the yfrog pic attached- but patriot76 and a few others saw it right away and made a screenshot of it I think (Cordova says she didn’t at the time). Weiner started deleting everything a few minutes after it was sent I believe. Patriot76 leaked it to Breitbart, and then Big Government broke the story.

GUILTY!
HE NEEDS TO LEAVE THE HOUSE......

when asked if that photo was him. Weiner didn’t answer the question! He needs to be GRILLED on this issue. wiener needs to be cooked and gone from Congress. The FBI needs to investigate like the did the Palin hacked account. wiener needs to step forward or be assumed that he is guilt of exposing his Weiner or dick.
