You’re going to the wrong places, then - many DFW TexMex places do all that stuff in house and don’t use the Taco Bell shells.

Also, keep in mind that Mexican varies even in Mexico and the style here is closer to that of northern or central Mexico and is therefore different than that in SoCal or Western Mexico.

Well, we have been to at least 15 different places and some are good, very good. I don’t mean to criticize Tex Mex. I would probably prefer it too if I had grown up here. But most use taco bell type shells for their tacos and brisket and chile con carne. It’s just a preference and yes, you are right about Mexico and different regions.

I guess “authentic Southern CA” mexican food is different from “Authentic Tex Mex”.....it’s just preferences. Point well taken. thanks.
