We really do need to invest in our infrastructure; our power grid is very, very antiquated.

Okay, but we don't seem to be capable of doing that without greatly expanding government power and reducing individual freedom with something like the 'Smart Grid'. I would agree that these things should be updated, but can we even trust the government to do it anymore?

Our roads are SUPPOSED to be a state issue for the most part. And every year there's a federal highway bill, which is bloated with so much unrelated garbage that it's a joke.

We can't 'invest' in 'infrastructure' until we get the corruption out of the system.

I realize we're talking about a 2 second soundbite, but I don't want to see our side support more mindless throwing of money down a bottomless hole in the name of 'investing'.

I agree, there HAS to be oversight in the form of stiff penalties for contractors who miss deadlines and the government, State or Federal, should be paying in draws after in-depth inspection, including audits. I don't have a problem with that kind of government oversight. Taxes shouldn't be poured out like water; something that's been happening for a long time and is absolutely indicative of the excess they collect. We need to fix our problems instead of everyone else’s.

When most politicians say “invest in infrastructure”, they really mean paying off their cronies. The infrastructure never seems to be improved.

When Sarah Palin says to invest in infrastructure, she really means FIX IT. She has a good sense of getting value for the dollar spent.
