Businesses should start installing turnstile doors that can be locked with the press of a button until police arrive.

I thought the same thing but I envisioned steel cages coming down upon the perps treat them like the animals they are. The only potential downside I see is you could possibly lock up law abiding citizens with these animals
who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“Businesses should start installing turnstile doors that can be locked with the press of a button until police arrive.”
Deliciously devilish idea.

"Businesses should start installing turnstile doors..." Or just banning lifeguards from shopping on the premises.

Businesses should start installing turnstile doors that can be locked with the press of a button until police arrive. The devestation the store would face at the hands of the locked-in perps while waiting for LEOs would far outweigh the the losses to theft.
