An HPD Officer was hit and killed by an ILLEGAL alien in this country who had been deported twice before...Tests on the ILLEGAL alien who had been deported twice before was 3 times over the legal limit of driving while intoxicated...

So...Maybe a few of those folks directly effected by that negligence, namely his pregnant widow and two other kids could lend a face to the effects of this states political indifference and feckless apathy towards eliminating this problem altogether...

I saw a news story about that, and when I noticed flags at half-staff in Houston on a city building, I thought maybe they'd been lowered for him. I didn't hear about former Gov. "Vinegar Bill" Clements' passing until much later.
