Romney = guaranteed 2012 GOP loss, McCain redux. It’s that simple.
What if he didn't lose? And remember, Obama ain't exactly Johnny Popular in America. There's a pretty decent chance Obama won't be the GOP's opponent and it will be someone else. Maybe Hillary, or maybe who knows who?
Say the GOP as represented by Romney won, God forbid. Americans who vote would become more cynical and apathetic, and Romney would grow government, tweak government, "manage" government, seek solutions through -- you guessed it -- government. It's the only thing he knows.
Congress would go way left in the mid-terms. And then, whether Romney was in for four or eight years, the next Democrat would make Obama look like a piker. Remember when Clinton or -- *gasp* -- Hillary was the ultimate liberal nightmare? The "anybody but" liberal nightmare?
The more that limited government Americans who trust the GOP to stand post end up voting out of stark fear for "anybody but" who is liberal on the Republican ticket, the more left liberalism goes.
I'd rather see McCain redux, frankly. Because if Obama or some other idiot liberal won, congress would move hard right and limited government conservatives representing the GOP would be more appealing to Americans who are becoming more and more engaged and involved in voting. They are BEGGING for a limited government GOP -- a brand they can vote for: LESS GOVERNMENT NONSENSE. Guys like Romney make them cynical and apathetic. Why the hell even vote if Republican or Democrat alike, he/she's going to increase the government monkey on free peoples' backs and nose in their lives?
