If he’s reached age 63 with no retirement savings (after time in the Marines and the Mass. state government?) ... if he’s earning a good salary, and his wife is also working, but they’re struggling to get by ... if he’s supporting a non-handicapped adult child, at his age ... then surely he can’t blame *everything* about his life on bad government policies. Wasn’t there any point in his life at which he might have affected the trajectory?
This sounds like a setup or a plant ... or someone who’s assimilated to “I’m a victim, too!” culture without realizing it.
Those drug addicts are collecting Social Security Disability - and getting other perks - I'm tired of that...
Changing “us” won’t change hardcore liberals. It won’t change Dem vote fraud either. And if you’ve ever read DU you’d know that “friendly persuasion” isn’t going to work. That does not belittle in any way what your Dad says or does. He sounds like a great man. It just doesn’t apply to people with hatred in their hearts and greed in their souls.
We forsaw the pile of shit this nation was headed for 50 years ago and decided to not have childern and make them survive the coming disaster.
Had it not been for conservatives fighting we would have been where we are today 20 or more years ago.
Well, I’m 61 and I find his article to be good and true. The difference is that I will be working for good government, working for the candidates whom I support and working to educate those who do not understand what has happened to us.

I’ve changed all sorts of people with friendly persuasion. The trick is to work one-on-one, not get angry, and just work logically.
Rationality is what a conservative has to offer—liberals just feel, for the most part. Get them to think, and you’ve won.
But, first, one has to get over anger, despair, and all those negative emotions that conservatives so often display. Being a conservative is an optimistic state, because it holds promise for everyone. Using “being a conservative” as a crutch to express anger is being a fool, and counterproductive.
And, you know, I’ve never visited DU, and never plan to. I talk to people, not message boards. the liberals I know are just confused and live in dreamland. Their “leaders,” on the other hand, are evil, in my experience. I stay away from them.

There are many FReepers that have family members that are liberals. Including me. Your message may sound wonderful but doesn't work in the real world. Liberalism is emotional and has nothing to do with rational thought and logic.
