A former Secret Service agent who has provided protection for President Obama has decided to make a bid for Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin's job.
Daniel Bongino, who resigned from the agency last month, plans to seek the Republican nomination to challenge the freshman Democrat.
The Secret Service traditionally does not look favorably upon former agents who jump into politics and has fought to make sure agents who protect the president are not compelled to testify on conversations they might have overheard to maintain trust, National Journal reports.
Bongino's campaign biography says he worked as an agent for a dozen years after serving in the New York City Police Department.

He has an interesting biography. Maybe he can run ahead of party lines and become a future leader.

All it takes is principles, the honest and moral kind. He states those, and stands by them rock solid, he will become successful.
Interesting. I’m leery of NYC cops being gun-grabbers though.

Does that mean they might take away his Birthday?
He is retired he can do anything he likes, as long as he doesn’t violate a security act.
It would be nice to have someone to replace Cardin who has to have Mikulski wake him up when it’s time to raise his hand.
Almost everybody in Maryland lives within 1.5 hours of DC yet Ben Cardin operates at taxpayer expense SIX REGIONAL OFFICES plus a 7th official office in DC.
Talk about excessive & outrageous spending.
With all do respect, I’m a retired NYC Police Officer and there are NO NYC Police Officers grabbing anything but illegal guns being used against law abiding people.(or against ogther skells who have illegal guns) The opportunity to have a full carry permit in NYC is so limited, if you see a gun, chances are, its illegal.
And in my experience, most of them support the fact that every gun is illegal except theirs. That’s what I don’t like. I’m sorry if that offends you, but I lived in the city for 25 years, knowing plenty of cops. Are all that way? No, but I can’t think of any 2nd Amendment firebrands either.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
