Are you telling me that Vishnu was the Creator who bestows upon us our rights? Buddah? Are you being willfully ignorant or do you genuinely believe the christian God has nothing to do with the founding of America?

I'm saying we are free to live in America and worship whatever God we want to.

We are not bound to worship the religion supported by the majority of people in the area we live in.

If you want your children to be in a Christian school, enroll them in a Christian, but don't make everyone who lives near you to also be a Christian.

Sitting through a two minute long prayer can't possibly be considered forcing someone to be a Christian. If the school was holding a gun to this agitator's head and telling him he had to worship Jesus, then you could make the argument that religious belief is being coerced.

Since that is not the case here, the agitator who brought this case should respect the rights of the other people at this graduation to pray. If he doesn't like it, he can stay home.

We live in a world where all of us have to sit through things we don't like. A graduation is not one of those things. If this agitator cannot put up with other people exercising their rights, then he is in for a miserable life. No one is going to like being around someone who wants to ruin things for everyone else.

This ruling is in violation of prior USSC rulings that give students the right to free speech in these matters.

How about other parents and students saying they, ““suffer irreparable harm” if no one prayed at the ceremony.”?

I guess I’m alone in thinking that this is an awesome ruling.

Awesome because it might inspire some family who was on the edge of deciding to home educate their kids to go ahead and take the plunge.

Awesome because it might inspire some family to make some economic sacrifices to send their kids to parochial school rather that the “free” government school.

Awesome because it will inspire the kids and their parents involved to figure out a creative way to negate the ruling.

Awesome because it further undermines the unwarranted faith that much of the populace places in the courts and judiciary.

Awesome because it will drive home once again the idea that resistance to tyrants is Obedience to God.

I’m in NY of all places and we have a prayer at graduation by a minister or Priest. The graduates that speak can also say a prayer if they choose.

“I’m saying we are free to live in America and worship whatever God we want to.”

So what’s the problem?

“We are not bound to worship the religion supported by the majority of people in the area we live in.”

So don’t.

“If you want your children to be in a Christian school, enroll them in a Christian, but don’t make everyone who lives near you to also be a Christian.”

Sorry, I wasn’t aware that saying a simple prayer in public was forcing religion on someone. Thank you for setting all of christiandom straight on the matter. Yur ACLU check is in the mail, I’m sure.

The article states:

Should a student violate the order, school district officials could find themselves in legal trouble. Judge Biery ordered that his ruling be “enforced by incarceration or other sanctions for contempt of Court if not obeyed by District official (sic) and their agents.”

Is this judge going to have law enforcement present at this graduation ceremony? I think all the parents should be armed to the teeth, and the valedictorian on his or her own volition should lead a prayer. If the cops try to stop the valedictorian with force the parents should stand up to prevent that from happening. If that means laying down their lives in order to do so then so be it.

Disobedience to tyranny is obedience to God.

The judge should be recalled and sued for violation of everyone’s Constitutional rights.

Why can't it be done private? Not a big fan of the teachings of Jesus?

So unconstitutional. The judge needs to be removed. People do not have the right to not be offended—BY a word in our pledge....no less........what bs.

Got to get back to the Rule of law and dump the fascist tyranny of these activist judges who make up laws on a whim.....Legal Positivism==can’t have laws not based on our Constitution and its intent!

The judge is a fascist denying freedom of religion....can’t do it.

Can they read the document?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,...

Sitting through a two minute long prayer can't possibly be considered forcing someone to be a Christian.

Maybe I'm wrong, be I think most Christians would have a real problem if their children had to sit through a two minute long prayer to Allah every day.

Why not pray with your children at home?
Why do you want the Government to lead your children in prayer?
Do really want the Government teaching religion to your children?

What I believe has nothing to do with it. This country has a 200 plus year tradition of ‘public prayer.’ You can choose to ignore that all you like. Does not change reality, nor history. What other freedoms that the Con/BOR enumerate do you disagree with? Doesn’t matter whether you agree with them or not. Your ‘opinion’ holds as much weight as mine - but the facts are the facts and the law is the law. Freedom OF, not freedom FROM.

Thanks for playing.

Tghe question you ought to ask is ‘why are we allowing the governemtn to resptrict the free exercise of religion in public? You see, you’ve posed all opf your questions from the wrong perspective.

Straw man. Graduations happen 1 day a year, not 365.
Again, we are a Christian nation, regardless of what Obama says. Speaking of which, are you the person he hired to push his policies last week? Sure seems like you back his constitutional interpretations.

This country has a 200 plus year tradition of ‘public prayer.’

Perhaps a 60 year tradition that began in the 1950's but certainly not one that is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
