SW area issues warning for firefighters working near US/Mexico border Written by Bill on June 2nd, 2011
In what seems to be an annual occurrence, the Southwest Geographic Area has issued another Safety Alert with the subject: US Mexico Border Fire Operations Safety. Saying the border area has become increasingly dangerous to firefighters, they listed in the two-page document some watchout situations:
These are potential situations firefighters could encounter:
1. Illegal immigrant and smugglers warming fires have started wildland fires.
2. Illegal activity along the border has involved copy cat vehicles painted to look like agency vehicles.
3. Radios and phones dont work in many locations on the border.
4. Awareness that when using cell phones to communicate, you may experience interference from Mexico.
5. Conflicts in air space with helicopters assigned to the fire and helicopters used for law enforcement.
6. Undocumented aliens are hiding or camping within or adjacent to the incident operations.
6. Potential health risks associated with large amounts of trash or caches of drugs burning.
7. Arson fires being started to divert attention from illegal activities happening nearby.
8. Clusters of illegal immigrant vehicles.
9. Packs and equipment being stolen.
10. Potential lack of law enforcement or medical support on the Mexico side of the border.
Janet “Nappy” Napolitano says she has all that handled. The borders are safe and secure. LOL!!! What a gal!
Large numbers of firefighters from several agencies are fighting the Horseshoe 2 Fire in Southeast Arizona and they also have to deal with the border issues. This is the area where rancher Rob Krentz was murdered. The fire is believed to have been started by smugglers as a diversion to get away from Border Patrol. This fire has burned over 80,000 acres of land and is costing about one million dollars a day to fight this fire.
**ping**
This is an act of war against the United State, pure and simple. Mexico should be invaded or nuked. It’s destroying us.
Thanks for the ping, Tammy.
Just another example of how dangerous some areas alpong our border with Mexico have become...
Alpong?
C’mon, Jinxie...
“PEARCE, GIFFORDS OFFICE REQUEST EMERGENCY FIELD HEARING ON BORDER SECURITY” (June 2nd)
The situation at our southern border is perilous, said Pearce. Constituents in southern New Mexico live in constant fear of drug smugglers and gangsters crossing onto their land, and putting their lives in jeopardy. Just last year, a prominent rancher near Douglas, Arizona, was murdered on his own land by suspected drug runners.Earlier this year, the mayor and police chief of Columbus, New Mexico, were arrested on suspicion of weapons trafficking. Despite sweeping declarations from Washington, our border, especially in rural areas, is not secure, and it is jeopardizing the safety of our citizens.
In the Nogales region, from Lochiel to Ruby Mine, illegals have started at least four fires in the last three months. One is burning now between Rio Rico (near the site where the Border Patrol officer was gunned down), Tubac and Arivaca. The irony of this last fire is that it is destroying a habitat that the tree-huggers wished to place off-limits to all human activity. Unfortunately for them, and for all of us, the illegals don’t give a damn about the environment.
If Janet and Obama think the border is so safe and secure, they need to go camping out there with their families.
And yet we still send "Foreign Aid" in the millions to Mexico even as they invade our country and have money to buy our bonds. Washington and its minions MUST BE FLUSHED!
If we don’t fight this battle now in ten years time we’ll all be living in a different world. A bad one.

Whoa! Sorry for the triple post. Don’t know how that happened.
Nappy said the border was secure, yet, these warnings? Zero and his stupid employees don’t know the meaning of the word “secure”.

If the tree huggers really cared one whit for the environment they would be out front and center to stop the illegal traffic across the border...yet they are silent (at least publicly) about all the damage done, fires set, garbage left, etc.
Thank you for posting that, I missed it.
