House Oversight Democrat says he will advise administration not to testify before committee
C.j. Ciaramella 30 mins ago
Democrats in the House Oversight Committee are in full revolt against Republican Chairman Darrell Issa, so much that one Democrat said he will urge members of the Obama administration not to testify before the committee.
Today during a meeting of the technology subcommittee, Democrat Gerald Connolly said, Im going to advise the [Obama] administration to decline all requests by the Majority to testify before this Subcommittee and the full committee until this matter is resolved.
**SNIP**
Democrats object to Issas interpretation of the committee rules, specifically him appointing minority witnesses, something they say is unprecedented and should be left to to the minority party. They also claim the majority Republicans are not posting the names of their witnesses 24 hours in advance, which is required under the committees rules.
A statement from the House Oversight Committee press office called the Democrats actions obstructionary: If committee Democrats are encouraging the administration to decline all witnesses, how does obstruction advance legitimate government oversight?
Ranking Maryland Democrat member Elijah E. Cummings and seven other minority members also released a letter to Issa today decrying his actions.
This unprecedented new policy undermines the integrity of our Committee by impairing the ability of minority Members to participate in its important work. No previous Chairman of this Committee has ever issued such an extreme edict, and we are aware of no other House or Senate Committee with a similar policy, part of the letter reads.
Connollys office did not return requests for comment.

Bad move.
Anybody care what Gerry Cannoli thinks?
It s*cks to be in the House minority. All you can do is squawk to the Press about “rules violations.” The Democrats will get a sympathetic ear from the Media, but will still get steamrolled in committee.

Feds suspend GTSI, one of the nation's largest contractors from receiving government work.
October 1, 2010 6:45:08 PM
Federal officials allege that Northern Virginia's GTSI Corp. inappropriately went through other firms to gain access to contracts set aside for small companies.
The U.S. Small Business Administration's suspension imperils hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for GTSI, a top 50 contractor that has relied on the Pentagon and the rest of the federal government for more than 90 percent of its sales in recent years.
Has any Democrat EVER stood up for the rights of the Republican minority when the dems held the power? I thought not. Unless and until they’re willing to stand up for what’s right in a nonpartisan and equitable way, they’re nothing more than hypocrites and obstructionists.
Issa needs to get each and every one of them on record as either supporting an oversight role or opposing it. Those opposed have no right to be on the committee and should be barred from future participation.
Why do democrats look like Henry waxman?
Contempt of Congress?
Can they even do that?
I thought no matter what, they had to testify, even if it means going in there and taking the fifth.
Fine then: Issa needs to stop appointing minority witnesses and post the 24 hour notice.
Take away these lame excuses and make them come up with another lame excuses.
At some point they will have to testify and then indict them for crimes against the country
This is why a hundred-odd cronies of Clinton fled the country back in Impeachment days, and never have been seen or heard from again.
There is a first time for everything, moron! Elections have consequences.

“Justice, DHS, and State were ALL involved in Project Gunwalker. DOJ had BATFE tell the gun dealers to sell the weapons to the straw buyers, OVER THE OBJECTIONS of the dealers. DHS had ICE let the trucks carrying the weapons pass uninspected. And State agreed to not let Mexico be notified of what was being done. And with ALL THREE of those agencies involved up to their head, The One was in on it as well. But will Law Enforcement bother to do anything? If not, expect the civil war ”
Interesting to look at some of the comments and their replies.
