Since when is enforcing our laws a question of ends and means? I don't know how many times I have to say it, but E-Verify is just an instrument that uses existing databases to ascertain whether a new hire is providing valid information in their job application, i.e., a valid SSN that is associated with the name of the employee.

When a cop stops someone for a traffic violation, they ask for a driver's licence. They also check the license number with a database to see if the car is stolen. Checking to see if a new hire has a valid SS is not any violation of civil liberties any more than checking if you have a passport or a ticket to get on a plane. If we don't get immigration, legal and illegal, under control, you won't have a country any more. We will lose it thru the ballot box and a bankrupt economy.

Are you on SS? If not, wait until you have to apply to get your benefits.

Ever since "probable cause."

And pray tell, oh you person who has lived in communist countries, how are those databases within the enumerated powers of the Constitution? I want them gone too.

When a cop stops someone for a traffic violation, they ask for a driver's licence.

That's "license." I would rather they were issued by the insurers, not the almighty State. The difference? The insurer is not protected by "sovereign immunity" as to whether they abuse the information.

Why do you think I want it gone?
