Red Sox to produce an "It Gets Better" anti-bullying video for gay youth

The Boston Red Sox will produce an online video for the “It Gets Better Project,” an anti-bullying project aimed at helping gay youth.

The announcement that the team would be the third major league baseball team to participate in the campaign came today in response to a petition started by a 12-year-old New Hampshire boy that garnered nearly 10,000 signatures in a matter of days.

“The Red Sox organization takes the issue of bullying seriously,” the team said in a statement yesterday released by spokeswoman Leah Tobin. “It is something that has touched many of us and those we love, and it is a growing problem in our community. We are proud of dedicated Red Sox fans like 12-year-old Sam Maden who have taken the courageous step of publicly standing up against bullying of LGBT youth.”

As a long-time Red Sox fan, I can only offer how embarrassing this is.

The Sox' management team (Tom Werner, Larry Lucchino, John Henry) are all liberal Democrats who, although having done some very good things for the organization, clearly enjoy pandering to the pink-hat crowd.

Hmm, why do you think there are no openly gay baseball players? Because baseball players are without a doubt the most intolerant of all major sports. Sports radio guys talk about this quite a bit. This is stupid.

Any interest in also doing an anti-bullying video aimed at helping Jewish youths? I didn’t think so.

Whether they’re gay or not, they’re Boston sports fans. They’re just trading one motive for suicide in for another.

...am very glad The Red Sox organization takes the issue of bullying seriously, and has made a video to ask gay youths to stop bullying: the Boy Scouts; parents who don’t want their kids to have gay lifestyles shoved down their throats at school; people who don’t object to gays getting rights from civil unions, but who simply believe in the historical definition of marriage between one man and one woman...

The Red Sox must think it's 1968 ... you're right Elendur - it's NOT gays who are bullied anymore. It's conservative traditional students who are bullied and their parents... Looks like the Red Sox have joined liberal elites - good for them - I'm sure the elite tofu eaters among us can fill their stadiums.../s

I think if we talk about bullying, it should be to punish bullying of any kind.

Wrong. When Hollywood presents Christian children as 'southern stupid' or traditional parents as "out of touch idiots" - it's all in good fun.

Liberal elite culture sets the tone for bullying conservatives and their children - so it OK to bully those groups.

Right?

Have you ever seen a Hollywood movie that DIDN'T mock Christian children? Bullying conservatives and their children is good clean liberal elite fun. Come on, you must know that, Dilbert.

So Please Dilbert, don't ask for fairness or decency in a liberal double standard world.

Gay children are forced to go to schools run by liberal elites - liberal elites who create curriculum for young potential gays like Suzy has two Moms and Danny has ten Dads (rotating in and out of his life) With the correct PC workbooks... And sex education classes showing how to put a condom on a banana - for third graders. Having teachers show open contempt for people who believe in abstinence helps set the tone too. Yep, those potential gay kids have it rough... And Hollywood - with all their jokes about gay kids - Oh wait, they never joke about gay kids - only Christian or traditional kids.

Anyhow Dilbert, your plan is awful. Only politically correct children should be protected ...
