A Chief NASA scientist, Dennis Bushnell has came out in support of Andrea Rossi's E-Cat technology, but denies any type of nuclear fusion is taking place, saying it is probably beta decay per the Widom Larson Theory. Repackaging the terminology to avoid embarrassment will not erase over twenty years of suppression and the reality of cold fusion!
Dennis Bushnell is a Chief scientist at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. He is also an inventor, author, and has been a consultant to countless government and military agencies. A few of these include the DOD, Air Force, DARPA, and the NRC. To read a more complete summary of his background, a good review can be found here. Recently, he was interviewed during an EV World podcast.
During the show, he addressed what he called "Low Energy Nuclear Reactions" as being the most interesting and promising alternative energy technology being developed. In fact, it was first on his list, ahead of salt water agriculture, cyanobacteria, energy conservation, geothermal power, nano-plastic solar panels, solar thermal concentrators, and high altitude wind power.
"The most interesting and promising [technology sector] at this point ... [is] low energy nuclear reactions."
Bushnell went on to say that LENR technology could potentially solve all of our energy and climate problems. He stated the technology could be used for any application, including to power rockets for space travel. It is quite refreshing to hear such positive statements, in support of cold fusion, from a mainstream, credible, and respected scientist!
Actually, I cannot think of any other scientist off the top of my head, that I would have rather made a statement in support of LENR (cold fusion). His extensive scientific background, career history, and status as a Chief

In the White House.
It doesn’t even cost Obama a dime.
So let me see if I understand this. Rossi puts nickel and hydrogen in a chamber, applies heat, pressure, one or two mystery catalysts and some how overcomes the strong force holding the nickel atom’s nucleus together. This results in the proton from the hydrogen atom entering the nucleus, with a final product of copper plus heat. That heat can, in turn, be used to heat water, resulting in steam, turbines spinning, etc.
Up until now the energy needed to overcome the strong force bond has only been found in two kinds of fusion- hydrogen bombs and stars. So what’s he doing that no one else has figured out?
It's possible that this is actual science being done. They could have a working implementation in Greece in the fall of 2011 -- and they can figure out the theory of what makes it work later. Not unusual at all to work that way.
When you have spent three decades supressing a technology this revolutionary, trying to jump on the bandwagon when it breaks free is as likely to be succesful as Anthony Weiner’s twitter denials.
The Universities whose publi credibility is already rocked a tiny bit are about to get, well, not bitchslapped but body slammed.
I suspect this is plan B behind Germany shutting down their existing nuclear power now. Many of their elites are part of the group who desires a lower population, and if the manufactured energy and food crunch causes the populace to rise up then as things get bad there they will roll out Rossi’s technology and try to claim part of the credit.
Just my two nickels worth.
B.S. Sounds like something his whacko boss Hansen would say.
Yet Bushnell's comments are construed as support for Rossi's work?
It appears Rossi and his supporters can catalyze more than Hydrogen & Nickel.
“What “climate problems” is this idiot speaking of? “
I was beginning to like him until I got to:
“Bushnell went on to say that LENR technology could potentially solve all of our energy and climate problems.”
I agree... Since Andrea Rossi’s just figuring out how it works himself, this catalyst must have been derived by trial and error... or accident. This would suggest to me that it probably works somewhat without the catalyst.
I would guess that this catalyst could be related to cleaning the nickle powder in an acid bath.
Scientists can't really explain how magnetism or gravity works, yet we use it to produce energy.
LENR may be real. And even making mistakes is useful for eliminating misleading results.
But can it produce any amount of useful energy? And at what cost? There’s lots of energy in lightening too but Ole Ben never was able to use it.
I do know that "fusing" Bacardi and Rossi (cold or otherwise) would claim anybody, NASA Chief or no....
Belgian Football League?
I am not a nuclear scientists, but I can think. I have come to the conclusion if one can get two dissimilar atoms very close together and keep them there, a type of nuclear action will happen. The original cold fusion experiments were very interesting. You find one element that the atoms of another element will fit into the interstitial spaces and keep it there for a long time (compared to high energy nuclear reactions) a reaction will occur. All the nuclear reactions that we have a theory for are high energy nuclear reactions which take place in a short time. These are low energy reactions which require some time to to happen.
Who knows, maybe we all may have small nuclear reactors in our basements soon.
probably means “bump for later” as in read it later.
But it could mean Babes For Lingerie, which I like better than Belgians and soccer.
