“BigGovernment.com and BigJournalism.com were approached regarding this information more than a week prior to the separate, independent event of Friday, May 27, 2011, when a link to the now-infamous gray underwear photograph appeared publicly on Rep. Weiners Twitter feed.”
That is a big claim regarding the timeline of events, and probably totally unnecessary.
Sensationalism is clouding the waters if they actually have some real source material.
Why would they push it that way?
Why do you say that?
It is simply proof that all the current publicity didn’t drive someone out there to make up evidence after the fact. In addition they likely have more explicit photos this time around that the Weiner won’t be able to deny is him.

If I understand your question, this isn’t sensationalism. It’s tactics. And quite effective.
Breitbart’s modus operandi has always been to hold back his trump cards. As with the ACORN prostitute videos he will initially release enough to force a response but the target thinking that is all Breitbart has, the defense will be misleading. Then soon after they have committed to that storyline, Breitbart throws in the hidden material exposing the new lies.
I’d think if it came out, as it probably would, that she’d contacted them before Weinergate, it’d look needlessly odd that they hadn’t explained that up front.
You are thinking like a RINO.
This isn’t sensationalism, its Breitbart’s way of letting someone hang themselves, and its incredibly effective.
Weiner is on record now for a week claiming he didn’t do this kind of stuff, and lying directly to his constituents faces. Showing they had other proof before this photo was released just gives him more credibility that Weiner is lying.
Breitbarts tactic is perfect on two fronts. First, he has nailed several scumbags this way, and second if he brings forth evidence against someone in the future they aren’t going to know if he is holding back some damning proof, which is his M.O. now.
Finally, a muckraker that is willing to nail someone with a (D) after their names and fight fire with fire.
To get maximum coverage. Drudge does something similar with his teases, e.g., Developing...
I pray that Weiner doesn’t resign too quickly.
He’s great fodder for the comedy machine.
