There are enough examples of the Obama administration's attacks on Texas to make a David Letterman Top 10 list. But, there's really nothing funny about the full frontal assault that's come out of Washington against our state in recent months.
Texas versus Washington talk is popular political chatter, but if you move beyond the rhetoric there's substantial evidence that President Barack Obama's administration is waging a strategic and sustained campaign against lives and livelihoods in the Lone Star state .
With all due respect, the president and his administration's hell-bent determination to tear down Texas could be better focused on more pressing matters like reining in debt and reforming entitlements.
The moves against Texas are well documented, some are more bold and brazen than others, and they amount to a war by regulation and executive order that's aimed at knocking Texas off its leadership position.
And lead Texas does. Chief Executive's seventh annual ranking on the best and worst states in which to do business put Texas on top for the 7th year in a row.
Less business-friendly states like the president's home state of Illinois (No. 48) and others sympathetic to his politics and anti-business policies (New York No. 49 and California No. 50) languish in the bottom three spots of the annual survey of the country's CEOs.

The Chronicle is a shell of its former self and most people I talk to about why they cancelled was the liberal pap they consistently put out. So, nice to see this once fine paper report the truth instead of their utopian crap.

Has there ever been a previous time in American history when a sitting President had “gone after” a state simply because the state failed to vote for him? Obama is a petulant child.
I’m with you....I stopped taking the Chronicle years ago. I always took the Houston Post then when it folded I had no choice but to take the chronicle. Houston Post was much more conservative, I always hated the Houston Chronicle. I was surprised to read this article in of all places the Houston Chronicle.
I see a lot of “secede” bumper stickers here. I wish.

I agree with you,but if we did then look what would happen to the rest of the country,the Muslim is out to destroy all of America..The Muslim knows we do not like him and would never vote for him..The ones he has are the illegals and the welfare mamas..and Texas is much bigger and stronger than him or his crowd in and out of Washington.. If he ever carried Texas in a race then everyone had better have a recall because he would only do that Illegally..

I hear that Texas would be the 15th biggest economy in the world if they were a country.
When all the productive people move there and we kick out the lazy welfare slobs it will go to the top 10 easy.
The One isn't interesting in learning anything; all he's interested in doing is tearing down anything and everything that is good about this country. It's all going according to plan!!!
I'm conflicted about this.
As a transplanted Texan (I got here as fast as I could!), I know I don't know all the history about it. However, Texas was a Republic for only nine years--and that was only because the Union refused their initial request to become a state.
I'm guessing there was a reason why the leaders at the time did not want to be independent, but I do not know that reason. It may not even be valid now.
OTOH, Texas has the largest port in the lower 48 (I believe), It has the capacity to feed its population (plus more), and it has industry to employ its citizens. It has its own electricity grid, separate from the rest of the country, and it's got the means, ability, and desire to supply itself with oil and other resources.
From a technical aspect, it's possible. I don't know about the political aspect, though.
One thing about it....we’d have plenty of US Military come back to Texas and form our own strong military. My daughter and son in law who is an Army Major and is MI, told me you wouldn’t believe how many of our military are from Texas.
It’s time for Texas to separate from the union. Here is my blog to help Texans begin to think about what a free and independent Texas might look like:
