Congressman Weiner admits online affairs

"Certainly he can forget about mayor," said Doug Muzzio, a professor of public affairs, at Baruch College in New York, adding that while Weiner might weather the storm, he will likely face a tough challenge if he seeks re-election in 2012.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi called for an ethics probe "to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred." Weiner said in a statement, "I welcome and will fully cooperate with an investigation by the House Ethics Committee."

New York State Republican Party Chairman Ed Cox called for his resignation, saying, "His actions are at best despicable and at worst illegal."

"To further a cover-up he stood by while encouraging others, including Congressional employees, to lie, slander and discredit the professional reputations of those who were telling the truth," Cox said. "His inappropriate behavior has irreparably damaged his ability to serve."

Former Senate Republican aide John Ullyot, a communication consultant at Hill & Knowlton in Washington, said Weiner, "lost a big chance to salvage some dignity by resigning promptly."

"Weiner's handling of this situation is an absolute disaster -- a textbook example of how not to act in a matter involving personal scandal," he said.

"By holding a news conference and answering 30 minutes worth of questions, Weiner opened up many more lines of inquiry than he resolved: the possibility of underage victims, use of office phones, questions of whether his wife was aware..."

REP. WEINER: I don't know the exact ages of the women, and I don't know if you do.

A perp walk and prison trump resignation.

Isn’t sending naked pics to someone who did not invite them against some kind of law?

Is this not sexual harrassment? Is this guy not a sexual predator? I can’t believe that this is not breaking some kind of law.

If the dems do not demand his resignation/expulsion for what he's done, then the entire bunch of them are as bad as he is. I am expecting that the Republicans will demand his resignation and barring that, his expulsion.

Ed COX???

Talking about Anthony WEINER?

All we need is for Dick Armey to chime in, and it's hat trick.

There’s that,

and there’s also the underlying ideology.

If he resigns over this, he’ll be proving that there is such a thing as objective behavioral standards,

and that’s something no leftist wants to let get a foothold.

Maybe in this election cycle the NY Democrat Party will sideline his ambitions to become mayor of NYC. But does anybody really think that the average Democrat primary voter in NYC will have a major philosophical problem with what Congressman Weiner has done here?

He'll slide into a political consulting position with CNN where he will do what he does best... bash Republicans. In 4 years they'll be begging him to run for Senate.

I am already disgusted by the number of comments I’ve seen about how this has been blown all out of proportion, it’s none of our business, a private matter, etc. It just shows how high the stakes are in Washington when people are willing to give this pervert a pass because he agrees with their ideology. The silence from all of the supposed women’s groups has been deafening.

Compare Jim Traficant with Charlie Rangel.

Traficant couldn’t be trusted to vote the party line and went to prison for some pretty minor crimes in comparison to party line voting Rangel.

It should be clear to everyone why politicians run for office. For sex!

This is only the tip of the iceberg. For everyone of these pervs who is exposed there are 10 more breathing (heavily) a sigh of relief that it wasn’t them.

Congressman Weiner should resign from Congress and keep doing what he likes best. He could start his own web sites, such as Weinerpedia or WeinerPage.

Years ago, two child molesters I had prosecuted were sharing a jail cell, Mr. Dick and Mr. Hand.

-"I am expecting that the Republicans will demand his resignation and barring that, his expulsion."

My personal opinion is that the Republicans should NOT demand anything (much less this pervert's resignation).

Here's what I would suggest:

- The longer this WEINER stays where he is, the more he will continue to rot and stink, and continue to provide great 'character reference' material on the RATs.

- Republicans should continue to point to RATs hypocrisy in continue to allow a sex predator in their caucus!

- Let the RATs be the ones to CALL FOR HIS RESIGNATION, which will be much sweeter than the Republicans call, once they can't stand the smell going into 2012.
