Orphanages still exist, there are 2 right here in the town where I live. However they are much different than they were in the past.

A I saids they are not the kind of orphanage one thinks of as in the past. Both of them in my town function as group homes with their primary purpose being the reunion of families. They do however prepare children for foster care and adoption.
